A 19-year-old woman died after she fell from a car window onto an Oklahoma highway over the weekend.

Late at night on Saturday, April 4, a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Mylie R. Campbell was traveling north on Interstate 35 in Murray County carrying five passengers, NBC affiliate KTEN and CBS affiliate KXII reported.

Just before 11:30 p.m. local time, the vehicle was near mile marker 50 when one of the passengers was sitting in the front passenger window with part of her body outside of the window. She fell onto the roadway and was hit by multiple vehicles, the outlets and FOX affiliate KOKH reported.

The victim, later identified as 19-year-old Lani Hicks from Ardmore, Okla., died of her injuries, according to the outlets.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s requests for further information.

In a GoFundMe page created to cover funeral costs, organizer Reece Riggle described the accident as “tragic.”

“Lani had a vibrant personality that brought joy to everyone around her,” wrote Riggle, who did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. “Her sudden passing has left her family and friends heartbroken, and the loss is felt deeply throughout the community.”

He added that funeral expenses were “overwhelming," which is why he'd established the fundraiser.
