If you somehow have never seen this incredible Reese Witherspoon movie, you’re in for a treat. She plays Elle Woods, a sweet sorority girl whose boyfriend dumps her when he leaves for Harvard Law School because he needs someone more “serious.”
But Elle is an unstoppable force who studies her way into Harvard right alongside him. Once there, she brings her unique brand of optimism and kindness to the classroom, surprising everyone — including herself — with her perseverance and intelligence. It’s a warm, lovable movie with a non-cloying girl power message.

‘Hamlet’ (1996)
Yes, Kenneth Branagh’s Hamlet is four hours long. No, it doesn’t feel like it while you’re watching the movie. The first unabridged film adaptation of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedy, it stars Branagh as the Danish prince and Kate Winslet as his lover, Ophelia. Branagh’s performance captures the full complexity of the character, and his direction makes the sprawling story feel real.
This intense work of art makes it clear why this drama has stayed with us over so many centuries.

‘Rent’ (2005)
This film adaptation of the acclaimed Broadway musical features most of the original cast, including Idina Menzel, Taye Diggs, Jesse L. Martin, Anthony Rapp, Adam Pascal and more. As the opening number tells us, it’s about “a year in the life of friends,” and all the pain, joy, confusion and (most importantly) love that a year can bring.
Rent takes place in New York’s East Village during the 1980s AIDS crisis and follows a group of young artists and self-proclaimed “bohemians” as they live life on their own terms to survive in the city. The memorable songs and moving performances will make you laugh and weep. Rent encourages you to live in the moment according to these words: “Forget regret, ‘cuz life is yours to miss.”
