Here at Watch With Us, we’re happy with finding hidden gems on all the streamers we subscribe to and watching them in the comfort of our own home.
Amazon Prime Video has tons of underrated movies that are just begging to be rediscovered and appreciated. We’ve selected three of the best films to watch on the streamer this weekend. All of them are underappreciated and worth your time.
‘September 5’ (2024)
The 1972 Summer Olympics are remembered now for what happened when the athletes stopped competing and an unexpected tragedy unfolded on live television. In Munich, eight members of the militant group known as Black September took members of the Israeli Olympic team hostage and eventually killed them. Because it occurred during a major sporting event, the incident was covered extensively by ABC’s sports crew, who quickly pivoted from interviewing athletes to broadcasting an event with enormous political significance.
September 5 is not only a dramatic recreation of the moments leading up to the terrorist attack known as the “Munich massacre,” but it’s also a fascinating behind-the-scenes drama involving the journalists who struggled to cover a breaking story without compromising the safety of the subjects they were covering. The film is a historical thriller that is more relevant in 2025 than you might think, and it makes a perfect companion piece to Steven Spielberg’s masterful 2005 film, Munich.

‘R.I.P.D.’ (2013)
Overworked police detective Nick Walker (Ryan Reynolds) is good at his job, but he feels like he’s being worked to death trying to keep the streets of Boston safe from crime. One day, his job literally kills him — his partner murders him to cover up a crime they both committed. To make matters worse, Nick finds himself still working in the afterlife.
As a member of the Rest In Peace Department, he’s partnered with undead gunslinger Roy Pulsipher (Jeff Bridges) to hunt Deados, guilty souls who escaped judgment. Things get personal for Nick when a Deado threatens his family. Even though he’s no longer alive, Nick has to protect his loved ones and save the day one final time before it’s too late.
R.I.P.D. has an interesting concept and executes it well enough to be entertaining. Reynolds showcases some of his manic energy he would later use to greater effect in his Deadpool movies here, and his oddball chemistry with Bridges makes their crimefighting duo a hoot to watch. The movie gets bogged down in CGI slugfests, but its pulpy spirit still shines through all the chaos. It’s brainless fun.

‘Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story’ (1993)
Was there anyone cooler than Bruce Lee? The martial arts star died when he was only 32, but his life was so eventful that it spawned several books and a 1993 feature film biopic starring Jason Scott Lee as the Enter the Dragon star. The movie dramatizes Lee’s unlikely path to movie stardom, tracing Lee’s humble beginnings as a dishwasher, then a philosophy student and later a successful martial arts instructor. It’s here where Lee found his path to stardom in the TV show The Green Hornet, where he starred as the sidekick Kato, and films like The Big Boss.

Dragon is successful in faithfully recreating Bruce’s life, but where it really shines is in depicting his relationship with Linda Emery (Lauren Holly), who would later become his wife and champion of his legacy. Dragon winds up being a surprisingly moving love story between two people from different worlds who shared a passion for each other and popularized martial arts in a time when it wasn’t widely known, let alone accepted. Even if you’re familiar with Bruce Lee’s story, Dragon is still worth a watch to see how the man became the legend he’s revered as today.
