Queen Camilla Won’t Get Involved in Husband King Charles’ Rift With Prince Harry, New Report Reveals

Queen Camilla is reportedly staying clear of the ongoing rift between her husband King Charles and his son, Prince Harry.

A source told People on Saturday, June 6, that Camilla determinedly “stays out” of the drama that’s been brewing between her husband and his youngest son. In May, Harry told the BBC that his father and brother Prince William “won’t speak with me,” which makes his hopes of ever reaching a reconciliation difficult.

“The royal family [doesn’t] trust Harry anymore,” a royal insider exclusively told Us Weekly on May 5. “So the whole institution is concerned that if Charles reaches out any conversations and information would be splashed across the American press.”

Harry’s interview came on the heels of his loss in the duke’s ongoing fight for security for his family in the U.K. Harry and wife Meghan Markle’s government-funded protection was removed after they departed from the royal family in 2020 and moved to the United States. During the BBC sit-down, Harry shared that his father could have affected the issue’s outcome.

Issues between the father and son have also reportedly stemmed from Prince Harry’s telling 2023 memoir, Spare, in which he admitted that he and his brother didn’t initially want their father to marry Camilla. The pair had engaged in an affair throughout Charles’ marriage to their mother, the late Princess Diana.

“Despite Willy and me urging him not to, Pa was going ahead. We pumped his hand, wished him well. No hard feelings,” Harry wrote. “We recognized that he was finally going to be with the woman he loved, the woman he’d always loved.” He also wrote that he wondered if Camilla would be cruel to him, and that his brother “long harbored suspicions about the Other Woman.”

“I had complex feelings about gaining a step parent who, I believed, had recently sacrificed me on her personal PR altar,” Harry also wrote. “In a funny way I even wanted Camilla to be happy. Maybe she’d be less dangerous if she was happy?”

Harry also accused both his father and stepmother of leaking his drug use to the press in 2002, and claimed that in 2019 they planted a story about his brother, his wife and the pair’s children. (Prince William is married to Princess Kate Middleton, and the pair share three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.)

While speaking to Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes in the same year, Harry further elaborated on the alleged dynamic with Camilla.

“There was open willingness on both sides to trade information. And with a family built on hierarchy, and with her on the way to being Queen Consort, there was going to be people or bodies left in the street,” he said.
