Brooklyn Beckham is celebrating his father-in-law’s birthday!
On Tuesday, June 24, Brooklyn, 26 shared an Instagram Stories tribute to 83-year-old Nelson with his 16.2 million Instagram followers. “Happy Birthday, Nelson. We love you,” he wrote alongside a sweet snap of himself and his 30-year-old wife, Nicola, with the businessman.
His wife of three years, meanwhile, shared her own Instagram tribute alongside a sweet childhood throwback picture of her as a toddler being held by Nelson. “Happy birthday to my king!! I’m so lucky to call you my dad, and you’re the most loving and supportive dad I could ever dream of! I love you so much!! I hope all your wishes come true!!” she wrote.
Brooklyn’s gushing tribute to his father-in-law seemed particularly pointed given that he and Nicola skipped his own Dad David’s lavish 50th birthday celebrations in London in May amid ongoing rumored tension between Brooklyn, Nicola, and his parents.
A source told PEOPLE around that time that there were “tensions between Brooklyn and Nicola and the family.”
Another source told PEOPLE that the couple may have skipped the party, which was also attended by Tom Cruise and Eva Longoria, because of one particular person who did make the guest list.
The insider told PEOPLE that the reason Brooklyn and Nicola opted out of going to the star-studded event was because of his brother Romeo Beckham’s new girlfriend, DJ Kim Turnbull, 24, whom the source says was once linked to Brooklyn.

“Brooklyn didn’t want to be in the same room as her, and he told his dad that,” the source said.
A second source noted, “Brooklyn and Kim know each other from the past, and his family knows he’s not comfortable around her.”
20-year-old Cruz, however, has denied that his elder brother and Turnbull ever dated.
Reps for David and Victoria did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on the source’s claims when they were first reported.

Meanwhile, back in April, Brooklyn and Nicola celebrated the third wedding anniversary of their lavish Palm Beach nuptials. On April 9, the couple each posted separate Instagram Stories celebrating the occasion and honoring their commitment to one another.

Brooklyn sent a large bouquet of roses to his wife and in the accompanying note he said, “I love you so much and I continue to fall more in love with you every second x you make me a better man and I couldn’t ask for a better partner x you are my soul and my rock.”
The actress subsequently reposted the sweet message, thanking her husband for the flowers, writing, “i love love letters so much.”
