Things between Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are “better than it’s ever been” since the pair split.
The Jonas Brothers member, 35, and the Game of Thrones star, 29, “have gotten into a co-parenting rhythm that really works and they’ve figured out how to communicate,” a source tells PEOPLE exclusively.
“There’s a mutual respect now, and the girls are their priority,” the source says. “Joe and Sophie have hit a surprisingly peaceful groove, and they’ve maintained an amicable relationship from two continents, which isn’t easy, but they’ve managed to pull it off.”

According to the source, “Things between them are better than it’s ever been since their split.”
The “Cake by the Ocean” singer recently gave insight into his co-parenting relationship with his ex-wife during Jay Shetty’s On Purpose Live Tour in Hollywood, Fla. In a TikTok video, Jonas could be heard telling Shetty that he has a “beautiful co-parenting relationship” with Turner.
“I have a beautiful co-parenting relationship that I’m really grateful for,” he said. “Having an incredible mom, Sophie, for those girls is like a dream come true.”
“As young girls, looking up to great women is what I want for them,” he continued. “I think what values I want for them are to be open-minded and have a big heart, be able to walk into any room and feel confidence, and know that they can do literally anything they want.”
Meanwhile, Turner showed support for Jonas’ latest musical project as she took to social media in May and shared a link to his new album, Music for People Who Believe in Love.
She promoted his album on her Instagram Stories along with the caption “Go go @joejonas.”
Shortly after Jonas filed for divorce in September 2023, Turner sued Jonas and requested her children be returned to England. In the lawsuit, the actress called for “the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained.”
In October 2023, Jonas and Turner determined a temporary custody agreement, which allowed their daughters to split equal time between England and the United States. A few months later, in January 2024, Turner dropped the “wrongful retention” claims against Jonas, and a judge approved to dismiss the filing after their parenting agreement had been approved in the U.K.
A source told PEOPLE a few days later that after a back-and-forth battle over custody of their daughters, the exes are peacefully co-parenting.
“They turned things around from the initial messy custody battle,” the source said. “They are friendly and great co-parents now.”
