Shane Burcaw and his wife Hannah put their own spin on the resurfaced “Bugatti Challenge.”

The influencer couple, known as Squirmy and Grubs online, went viral for their take on the social media trend that features people sitting on the floor while pretending to drive a car as someone off-camera pulls their feet to drag them out of the frame.

In their TikTok video, Hannah is sitting on the floor while presumably Shane, who has spinal muscular atrophy, pulls her with his wheelchair off-camera. While he’s not physically pictured in the clip, she alludes to it in her text overlay.

“Bugatti trend with my husband’s 400lb wheelchair?🙂‍↕️,” she wrote over the video, which is backed by the Ace Hood’s 2013 hit, “Bugatti,” with the popular lyric, “I woke up in a new Bugatti.”

Meanwhile, fans had questions in response to the couple’s first video, posted on Sunday, July 13, which they answered in a follow-up post shared one day later.

“Wait who pulled you tho?” asked one commenter, which she replied to in the second video shared on TikTok.

“So we just did the Bugatti trend and some people are thinking that Shane was not the one who pulled me in that clip,” Hannah, who was standing beside her husband in the post, said.

Shane added, “Which, I mean, maybe I shouldn’t have been the one to pull her.”

“Should we have faked it?” Hannah replied. “Yeah… But did we? No,” she said, adding, “Do you want to know what we did?”

The couple then went on to explain and demonstrate how they created their initial video, which featured Hannah getting pulled off-screen.

“Let me just grab our dog’s leash really fast,” she said. She then began to unravel the pet accessory that was revealed to be the secret behind their challenge attempt, explaining, “Because that was the first step.”

Shane added, “We tried it with a smaller rope first but that didn’t work.”

Hannah bent down and attached the leash to her husband’s wheelchair, grabbed a floor towel to sit on (because their floor is “very splintery,” said Shane) and put the leash around her foot before he drove away with her dragging behind.

“Unlike a Bugatti, I can’t go zero to 60 in under a second,” joked Shane, who needed lead time to get his wheelchair moving.

Shane sang the famed line of the song as he drove away, pulling Hannah who laughed as she was dragged off-screen.

With over 1.8 million YouTube subscribers and a million-plus followers across social media, Shane and Hannah demonstrate what it means to love someone for who they are, inside and out, through their heartwarming content shared on each platform.

In an Instagram post shared in February, Shane marked a milestone by sharing a series of photos of himself outside the “safety” of his own wheelchair.

“I’ve had a complicated relationship with my body throughout my lifetime. I’m aware that’s probably the understatement of the century, but it’s true,” Shane wrote in his caption.

“For many years, I was so ashamed of my disabled physique that I pretty much flat out refused to ever let anyone see me outside of the obscuring comfort of my wheelchair. In the last 10 years or so, though, I’ve grown to love my body,” he continued.

“The shift in my attitude can largely be attributed to Hannah’s unconditional and complete love for me exactly as I am, as well as my own growth in my disability identity journey,” he added. “Anyway, here I am over the years, OUT OF THE SAFETY OF MY WHEELCHAIR!⁣”

The first picture featured the interabled couple, who married in September 2020, smiling while posing together in a swimming pool. Other photos included Shane enjoying a spa day, lying outside on the grass, relaxing on the couch, reclining back in a car seat and alongside his dog on a bed.

Both Shane and his wife Hannah spoke with PEOPLE exclusively in January about their love for each other, while chatting about their latest co-authored book Interabled: True Stories about Love and Disability from Squirmy and Grubs and Other Interabled Couples.

“Something that we realized from running the channel is that there were a ton of misconceptions out there about disability and dating, disability and relationships about our relationship, but also more widely in society,” Shane told PEOPLE exclusively.

Their goal for the book was to reach people with little knowledge about interabled partnerships and show them that “relationships like ours are not rare,” he said.

He added, “We’re hoping that when they see a book full of dozens of couples that deal with disabilities, they begin thinking differently about that.”
