Another summer romance is headed to Prime Video.
In July 2024, Deadline reported that an adaptation based on Carley Fortune’s romance novel, Every Summer After, was in the works. Over the span of six years, the book follows the evolving friendship between Percy and Sam, who meet as teens at Percy’s summer home in Barry’s Bay and reconnect years later after a long separation.
At the time, the author told PEOPLE that she was “excited to partner with Amazon to take their journey even further — beyond the pages of the book, onto the screen, and into the hearts of audiences across the globe.”
One year later, Deadline announced the stars who would be bringing the characters to life in the series, which is titled Every Year After. While the lead roles of Percy and Sam will be played by Sadie Soverall and Matt Cornett, respectively, the cast is rounded out by Aurora Perrineau, Abigail Cowen, Michael Bradway and Joseph Chiu.
“I couldn’t be more excited about this fabulous cast!” Fortune said in a statement, per Deadline. “This is an enormously talented group of actors, whose auditions made me laugh, swoon, and cry. I know they’ll have fans of Every Summer After falling in love with their favorite characters all over again.”
Below, meet the stars leading the Prime Video series adaptation of Carley Fortune’s novel, Every Summer After.
Sadie Soverall as Percy
Soverall will star as Percy, who spends her summers in Barry’s Bay in the novel and becomes friends with the boy next door, Sam, and his brother, Charlie.
The actress is best known for her roles in 2023’s Saltburn, 2023’s Little Bone Lodge and 2024’s Arcadian. Her breakout role was as Beatrix in Netflix’s Fate: The Winx Saga.
During a conversation with Vestal magazine for their winter 2024 issue, Soverall shared that she has “always loved acting,” though theater and film were her “real passions.”
She also opened up about how she prepares for the diverse characters she’s played across a range of genres and said that “each role requires something unique.”
Matt Cornett as Sam
Starring opposite Soverall is Matt Cornett, who will play Sam. In the novel, Sam is Percy’s childhood friend and first love.
Cornett is recognized for his roles in 2018’s Alex & Me, 2022’s Zombies 3 and 2025’s Summer of 69. On the small screen, he starred as EJ in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
During a May 2021 conversation with Pop Culturalist, Cornett shared that he discovered his passion for acting by taking theater classes in school. While it was initially a class to “hang out with friends, goof around, and have some fun,” it transitioned to something more serious.
“At one point, I was in the car with my grandma or my mom and something came on the radio and was like, ‘Do you want to be an actor for Disney and Nick?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I do,’ ” he recalled.
Cornett continued, “I went to this convention in LA and my parents were like, ‘If this is really what you want to do and what you want to put your time and energy into, we’ll support it. We’ll help you make it work.’ ”
Aurora Perrineau as Chantal
Perrineau will play Percy’s friend Chantal.
On July 17, she shared the Every Year After casting announcement on her Instagram, writing, “Me 🤝🏽 Chantal. Me 🤝🏽 this cast!!! 🚣♂️🚣♂️🚣♂️.”
The actress previously starred in Netflix’s Kaos and made appearances in Netflix’s When They See Us and HBO’s Westworld.
During a September 2024 conversation with Office magazine, Perrineau shared that it was her parents who inspired her to become an actress.
“My parents were actors, so I just thought that’s what you did, and only later found out you didn’t. I acted for a while when I was young, but quit and was an equestrian for 14 years,” she said.
Perrineau continued, “I thought that’s what I would do with my life. Then, I started modeling, and got away from horseback riding, because I couldn’t really do both.”
She shared that she didn’t “feel creative enough as a model,” but she appreciated the “idea of putting on clothes to become a different character,” which led her to return to acting.
“It was slow, but I did a lot of training and kept at it,” she added.
Abigail Cowen as Delilah
Cowen will portray Delilah, another friend of Percy’s.
“we are PUMPED. So excited to bring Delilah to life heheh🤗🙈🙌 ,” she wrote on Instagram following the casting announcement.
Cowen is most known for her roles in 2022’s Redeeming Love and Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Every Year After also marks a reunion for her and Soverall, as Cowen also starred in Netflix’s Fate: The Winx Saga.
During a July 2025 conversation with Schön magazine, Cowen opened up about how she chooses which roles to seek, saying, “It’s definitely more about instinct.”
“If a character or story hits me in the gut, I know I’m supposed to be part of it,” she said. “I’m not someone who tries to ‘collect genres,’ instead I chase characters that challenge me or make me feel something unexpected. If it scares me a little, that’s usually a good sign.”
Michael Bradway as Charlie
Bradway will play Charlie, Sam’s older brother.
Following the casting news, he shared an Instagram selfie posed in front of the novel, writing, “Couldn’t be more excited to be your Charlie 🚤.”
Bradway was previously seen in NBC’s Chicago Fire, in which he played Jack Damon. He also starred in 2025’s Marked Men.
Joseph Chiu as Jordie
Rounding out the cast is Chiu, who joins as Jordie.
Chiu was most recently seen in Prime Video’s Motorheads and 2025’s Fear Street: Prom Queen, in which he played Spider.
According to his Instagram, he graduated from the University of Toronto in June 2025.
