Dylan Dreyer Has Family Birthday Bash with Ex Brian Fichera — and Hoda Kotb and Her Daughters Were on the Guest List

Dylan Dreyer celebrated her latest trip around the sun with Hoda Kotb and a special “surprise” from her kids!

The Today meteorologist shared a glimpse of her 44th birthday party on Instagram on Sunday, Aug. 3 — showing off a celebratory sash and tiara she wore for the occasion, plenty of cupcakes and appearances from both her boys and Kotb’s girls.

“Thank you all for the birthday wishes,” Dreyer captioned a series of photos of party scenes a day after her birthday. “I was spoiled by the best surprises ever and felt like a princess!”

In one clip, Dreyer could be seen surrounded by both her family and Kotb’s family — including Dreyer’s estranged husband Brian Fichera and their sons Calvin, 8, Oliver, 5, and Russell, 3 — as everyone sang to her before she blew out a big “4” candle. Other photos featured Dreyer hugging her three sons, smiling with Kotb, 60, and extending her arm for a group selfie as the kids munched on cupcakes.

Kotb’s girls, 8-year-old Haley and 6-year-old Hope, helped play an important role in the party planning, too. Dreyer, who also serves as the co-anchor of the third hour, elaborated on the celebration onToday on Aug. 4, revealing that her boys “spoiled” her and “decorated the whole house” along with Kotb’s children.

“I have all this stuff now — glasses, party favors, everything — but while they were setting this up and making cupcakes and all these things, they said, ‘Sit outside. Just stay outside.’ For hours. I mean, I don’t know what they were doing but Hoda and I just sat outside for hours in the sun on a beautiful day,” Dreyer said. “It was like, all I really want for my birthday.”

While the kids were decorating in secrecy, Kotb would occasionally “run in” to ask if the parents should keep waiting, Dreyer revealed.

“And the house didn’t burn down,” she joked of their children. “It was just the best day.”

The celebration arrived less than a month after Dreyer shared the news of her separation from Fichera to Instagram. In a July 18 post, the meteorologist wrote that she and her estranged husband “made the decision to separate” months before, following 12 years of marriage.

She wrote that they’d “continue to co-parent our three wonderful boys together with nothing but love and respect for one another.”

Since then, the duo have shared glimpses of their co-parenting dynamic to social media, with Dreyer’s birthday party marking just the latest example of a family gathering. Dreyer also posted pictures from a golf outing featuring snaps of Calvin and his dad in July, as well as a family trip they spent with Fichera’s family.

A source told PEOPLE last month that the former couple “remain best friends, and they are committed to co-parenting and putting their three children first.”
