  • The new season continues exploring the love triangle between Belly (Lola Tung) and brothers Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno)
  • The season includes nods to author Jenny Han’s previous works, as well as what fans have deemed hidden Easter eggs

Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty has fans on the edge of their seats — and digging for clues as to who its leading lady might end up with in the end.

Adapted from Jenny Han’s best-selling book trilogy, the Prime Video series follows Isabel “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung), who spends summers at the Fisher family’s Cousins Beach house, where she finds herself torn between brothers Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). Since its premiere in 2022, the show has garnered a massive fan base and sparked passionate debate over one of television’s most talked-about love triangles.

Now, in the midst of its third and final season, fans are watching more closely than ever, trying to figure out who Belly will ultimately choose in the end. While the cast has been careful not to give anything away, Han — who serves as the series’ creator, writer, co-showrunner and executive producer — confirmed there are hidden clues planted throughout the show, including one major Easter egg viewers have apparently overlooked.

“There’s one, but I can’t say what it is,” she said during a July 2025 appearance on Mamamia’s The Spill, adding that many viewers have “already missed” the Easter egg.

From song lyrics to nods to other Jenny Han adaptations, here are 10 Easter eggs in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 that you might have missed.

Warning: The Summer I Turned Pretty spoilers ahead!

Nods of blue and red

Fans were quick to pick up on hidden messages as soon as the season 3 trailer dropped. The trailer begins set to the background music of Taylor Swift’s “Daylight,” before transitioning to the pop star’s hit song “Red.”

The lyrics of “Red” are, “Losing him was blue, like I’d never known,” and later adds, “but loving him was red.” Throughout the season, there are several moments that fans have chalked up to Han’s use of color symbolism as they relate to Swift’s lyrics, especially given the singer’s history of dropping Easter eggs of her own.

Specifically, Belly wears blue in several scenes with Jeremiah, including when she finds out that he had sex with someone else, but sports a red pajama set during her unexpected reunion with Conrad in the Cousins Beach house.

In another video, one fan pointed out that the hydrangeas surrounding Jeremiah and Belly as they kiss outside the Cousins Beach home are mostly blue — with a few red flowers growing in the middle.

What’s more: when the brothers go surfing in episode 4, Conrad’s board is red, while Jeremiah’s is blue.

More Taylor Swift lyrics

Swift’s “Red” isn’t the only song that fans think is tied to some plot lines. While it has yet to be played during season 3, viewers believe that one scene is a parallel to the singer’s hit “Gorgeous.”

The song begins, “You should take it as a compliment, that I got drunk and made fun of the way you talk.”

In episode 4, Jeremiah and Belly float in the pool on rafts, drinking and tipsily making fun of Conrad, who is listening from his room upstairs.

The film Sabrina appears multiple times

From the moment promo for season 3 began, viewers drew a parallel between the cover art and the 1954 classic Hollywood film, Sabrina.

The cover art pays homage to the film, which stars Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart and William Holden, whose characters find themselves in a similar brother love triangle.

In both images, the central love interest is between the two men. In Sabrina, Hepburn’s character ends up with Bogart’s character, the older brother who is pictured on the left, rather than Holden’s, the younger brother who is kissing her.

With Tung, Casalegno and Briney mirroring the pose, fans believe the placement was an intentional clue as to who Belly will ultimately choose in the end.

Belly’s dorm posters

The writing is (literally) on the wall! Belly’s college dorm is decorated with several posters, including a Sabrina one, that viewers have pointed out might contain hidden meanings.

In episode 2, Anika (Sofia Bryant) shuts Belly’s college dorm room door, which has a Bye Bye Birdie poster hung to the back of it. The musical comedy film’s main character is named … Conrad.

Jeremiah and Belly’s Halloween costume

In addition to posters, Belly’s dorm wall is decorated with several photos with her friends and boyfriend. In one photo, she and Jeremiah are dressed as Lara Jean (Lana Condor) and Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo) for Halloween, a nod to the main characters of Han’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.

The author shared behind-the-scenes photos from the episode on Instagram, giving a closer look at the costume. In the comments, fans speculated that it might symbolize she chooses Jeremiah, given that Peter and Lara Jean were endgame in the Netflix movie.

The crossword puzzle (that pans to an infinity symbol!)

Jeremiah and Belly’s Halloween costume isn’t the only nod to Han’s previous works. During Belly’s Christmas getaway to the Cousins Beach house in episode 2, Belly enters the kitchen and finds a note left by Conrad, attached to a crossword puzzle.

One of the crossword clues reads “Novel by author Jenny Han, P.S. I ____ Love You,” with the word “still” appearing to have been previously erased.

Belly then fills out the clue by adding the word back in, and when the camera pans away, the crossword appears to take the shape of an infinity sign — a symbol that reoccurred throughout Conrad and Belly’s relationship.

Belly and Conrad created (another) classic Jenny Han adaptation moment

When Belly and Conrad find themselves at the Cousins Beach house in episode 3, there’s one moment that fans of Han’s previous works, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and XO, Kitty, caught right away.

After Belly trips down the stairs, she ends up lying on the ground with Conrad looking at her from above — which many viewers noted was a tribute to the classic moment between To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’s Lara Jean and Peter that was repeated again by XO, Kitty‘s Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee) and Kitty (Anna Cathcart).

Sour Patch Kids

In the final episode of season 2, Conrad and Jeremiah get into a disagreement at a gas station over Belly’s favorite candy. While Conrad says Belly prefers Sour Patch Kids over Swedish Fish, Jeremiah said they were “practically the same.”

“Not to Belly,” Conrad replied. “She thinks Swedish Fish taste like candles. She likes sour.”

When they returned to the car, Belly reached for the Sour Patch Kids that had been purchased and confirmed they were her “favorite,” fueling the deeper competition between the brothers.

In season 3, Sour Patch Kids have appeared several times, from wrappers being sprinkled in various scenes to Taylor’s (Rain Spencer) mom telling her not to give her the “Sour Patch face” — all quiet callbacks to the pivotal season 2 scene.

Belly’s prom gown hung up in the wedding dress store

In episode 4, Belly shops for a wedding dress for her big day with Jeremiah.

But while Belly was trying on white dresses, there was another gown hanging up outside her dressing room door — one that looked nearly identical to the one she wore to prom when she was dating Conrad.

Conrad previously did the “Mr. Darcy hand flex”

While this iconic moment didn’t happen in season 3, it would be remiss not to mention the easter egg that is Conrad’s recreation of the “Mr. Darcy hand flex.”

After sharing their first kiss on the beach, Conrad and Belly return to the Cousins Beach house and find Susannah sitting in the living room.

At first, they are holding hands as they speak to Susannah, but Conrad flexes his hand as he says goodbye to Belly, a nod to Pride and Prejudice‘s Mr. Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen).
