This 4K Projector Is $1,000 Off Ahead of Football Season — Our Editor Says Its Picture Is Huge Even in Small Rooms

Amazon has a 4K projector on sale that’s a great solution for anyone who wants to switch from a standard TV to a much bigger screen in a smaller living room.

While many projectors need at least 10 feet of throw distance (i.e., the space between the projector and your wall) to make a picture bigger than 100 inches, the Awol Vision Short-Throw Projector needs just 20 inches to transmit its maximum picture size of 150 inches. This means no mounting equipment or tripod is needed — just park it a foot from your wall and you’re good to go.

This high-tech home theater centerpiece is $1,000 off its usual price right now. The final cost is just a little more than what you would pay for an 85-inch 4K TV that produces an image roughly half the size of what this projector is capable of. I’ve tested it and been thrilled with its super easy setup, sleek looks, and immersive picture quality.

Awol Vision 4K UHD Ultra-Short Throw Triple-Laser Projector

Unlike traditional projectors, you don’t have to mount this short-throw projector from the ceiling or across the room and keep the path clear between its lens and the screen.

This one can be placed on an entertainment center anywhere between 6 to 20 inches in front of the screen or solid white wall you’re beaming it onto, depending on how big you want the picture to be. The picture shrinks as you scoot the projector closer to the wall, while it grows as you back it away, making it a breeze to find the right size for your setup in seconds.

The projector uses a triple laser for its display, has a 4K UHD resolution, three HDMI ports (including one that can be used to send high-quality ARC audio to your sound system), and a peak brightness that’s comparable with far pricier projectors. The Awol Vision projector also boasts a high contrast ratio, weighs a bit less than many 4K projectors, and has built-in 3D capability.

It also comes with an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max — $60 on its own — so you can start streaming the highest-quality video from your favorite apps right out of the box.

My experience with the projector included watching the Super Bowl (my mom was visiting and her mind was blown, especially during the halftime show) and countless movies over both streaming and my 4K Blu-ray player. The projector also comes with sturdy rechargeable 3D glasses that make it super fun to watch compatible movies. My son and I watched a few nature documentaries in 3D mode and it felt like we were in the scenes.

I also used it for gaming on both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S, with features like Dolby Vision automatically being activated when they were eligible. I found it to be one of the most user-friendly projectors I’ve ever tested because it adjusts color and brightness settings based on how much ambient light it detects in the room. The focus also adjusts automatically when you move the device.

We’re not sure how long this $1,000-off deal will last, so grab the Awol Vision Projector and transform your viewing space before kickoff. Shop a few more home theater components below that go well with the projector, including Awol Vision’s own motorized screen that disappears when you’re not watching anything.
