President Donald Trump thinks his longtime ally, Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, has “lost her way.”
Speaking with reporters from the Oval Office on Nov. 10, Trump spoke out about the 3-term congresswoman. “I don’t know what happened to Marjorie. She’s a nice woman, but I don’t know what’s happened,” Trump said. “She’s lost her way, I think. But I have to view the presidency as a worldwide situation, not locally.”
The comments came in response to a question from CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins, who asked Trump about a social media post from Greene that criticized his current focus on foreign policy amid the president’s White House meeting with Amad al-Sharaa, the president of Syria’s interim government.
“I mean, we could have a world that’s on fire where wars come to our shores very easily if you had a bad president,” Trump continued. “We had a horrible president, and we ended up with Russia/Ukraine.”
In a post to her X account on Nov. 10, Greene described al-Sharaa as a “former Al Qaeda terrorist wanted by our government,” noting that the meeting occurred on the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps.
“He rose to power in Dec 2024, sanctions were lifted off Syria in June, and many Christians and minority groups have been killed before and after sanctions were lifted,” Greene continued.
Greene then wrote that she would “really like to see nonstop meetings at the WH on domestic policy not foreign policy and foreign country’s leaders.”
“Start by hauling in the health insurance company’s executives and let’s start formulating our Republican plan to save America from Obamacare and ACA tax credits that have skyrocketed the cost of health insurance,” the post continued.
Long considered close political allies, the relationship between Trump and Greene has frayed in recent months. In June, Greene made a then-rare break with Trump when she admitted that she “didn’t read” his “Big Beautiful Bill,” and criticized a provision in the legislation that limited states’ rights to regulate the usage of artificial intelligence (AI) for the next decade.
Later in June, Greene slammed Trump’s decision to bomb three Iranian nuclear sites. “I’m sick of funding foreign aid and foreign countries and foreign everything,” Greene wrote in a lengthy statement to her X account on June 22. “I want to fund American interests and issues.”
Greene has also been publicly critical of the Trump administration’s refusal to release files related to the crimes of sex trafficker and former Trump associate Jeffrey Epstein.
The congresswoman criticized Republican party leadership on Oct. 8, calling on Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to reconvene the House and work toward “solutions” on the Obamacare subsidies that are set to expire at the end of 2025, causing steep increases to health insurance premiums for millions of Americans, CNN reported.
“This cliff is coming for millions and millions of Americans where their health insurance premiums are about to skyrocket, so put your money where your mouth is,” Greene told the outlet.
On Oct. 29. Greene appeared on The View, where she stunned audiences by going after her own party. During the episode, Greene reiterated her calls for Trump to release the Epstein files in full, and slammed GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson’s leadership. She also denounced the QAnon conspiracy theory, which she had formerly supported.
This is a major departure for Greene, who once wanted to become Trump’s running mate in the 2024 presidential election, former Trump advisor Steve Bannon told NBC News in 2023.
In a Nov. 5 video, Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez alleged that Greene was on a “revenge tour” against Trump because he wouldn’t allow her to run for Senate in Georgia.

“She wanted to run for Senate earlier this year in the state of Georgia, she wanted to be the Republican nominee for Senate. So, she was gearing up for that statewide race, and Trump told her no,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Trump said no, and the White House and Trump Land shut down Marjorie Taylor Greene’s personal ambitions to run for Senate, and she has been on a revenge tour ever since.”
