The Golden Globes is getting a whole new look.
The star-studded awards show’s red carpet looks a little different in 2026 thanks to construction on the Beverly Hilton, the iconic hotel that’s housed the Globes for decades.
Rather than unfolding inside the hotel’s corridors and covered walkways as it has in years past, the carpet will move completely outdoors and take up nearly 500 feet along Wilshire Boulevard.
“The biggest challenge is not creative,” show runner Glenn Weiss exclusively tells Los Angeles Magazine. “It’s literal. It’s what’s left of this building.”
He continued, “Necessity is the mother of invention. We had a red carpet in a certain place here for years, and then the construction just took it away. So we had to come up with something different.”
A setup that’s reminiscent of New York City’s annual Met Gala, a staircase replaces a traditional flat backdrop, creating a variety of photo opportunities for talent.
“We wanted it to feel like motion, not posing,” production designer Jitter Garcia tells the outlet. “Almost like a runway.”
“We were very intentional about the measurements of the steps,” Garcia continued. “We were thinking about the skirts, the trains, the heels.”
Production designer Kyle Absalom reveals that the first iteration of the new design was fully scrapped after completion.
“We were done,” Absalom told the magazine. “And then we looked at it again and thought it might not read correctly on camera. So we redid the whole thing.”
Garcia added that stylists were invited for a preview of the new space.
“I think it was really appreciated,” she said. “Now they know exactly what their clients are getting into.”

Chef Nobu Matsuhisa said that things will largely be status quo on the food front.
“We will serve around twelve hundred plates,” he said. “Everything has to be exact.”
The chef explains that there will be only minor updates to the usual menu, with an additional sushi bar going all night off-camera.
“Most of the people here I already know,” Matsuhisa added. “They come to my restaurants. I’m very comfortable.”
Comedian Nikki Glaser returns to host the 83rd annual Golden Globes
One Battle After Another led among movies with nine nominations total, followed by Sentimental Value with eight and Sinners with seven. Among television, The White Lotus scored the most with six nods, then Adolescence with five.
