  • The soon-to-be bride and groom follow a “work comes first” mantra

Reba McEntire and Rex Linn’s wedding will have to wait.

While chatting with E News! on the red carpet at the 2026 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 1, the singer-actress, 70, shared the reason why she and her fiancé, 69, have postponed their nuptials.

McEntire revealed that Linn has one rule: “Work comes first.” Their wedding is no exception.

The groom-to-be, who stars in the NBC sitcom Happy’s Place alongside McEntire, has a few upcoming projects that are taking priority.

“We’re still waiting on a third season pickup from Happy’s Place,” McEntire said. “And Rex got picked up on Stick with Owen Wilson, so that pushed the wedding back.”

McEntire and Linn aren’t too upset that their busy filming schedules have delayed their walk down the aisle. Speaking with PEOPLE at Sunday’s Grammy Awards, McEntire shared that it’s a thrill getting to tackle so many projects with Linn, who popped the question on Christmas Eve in 2024.

“Rex and I have the best time working together,” she gushed. “We’ve done movies together, television shows together, dramady and sitcoms.”

The couple of six years currently star in Happy’s Place. In the past, they have shared screen time in Big Sky, The Hammer, Young Sheldon and The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw.

Back in November, McEntire exclusively told PEOPLE that she and Linn are simply “enjoying being engaged” and aren’t in any rush to set a date for the wedding.

“We’re totally enjoying being engaged,” she said. “Have no idea when we’re going to set a date. Work comes first, so we’ll see.”

That same month, the bride-to-be told E! News that her wedding will be “nontraditional.”

“It’ll be a lot of fun,” the Reba alum said. “It’s gonna be a nontraditional wedding because that’s Rex and me. We like comfort, we love friends, we love food.”
