Amid the ongoing conversation surrounding her "toxic" mom group, Ashley Tisdale French is admitting that she needs to take "regular breaks" from social media.

The mom of two published a new blog post about social media on Monday, Feb. 23. In an Instagram Stories post promoting it, she told her followers, "I love social media, but I don't think it's where we're meant to live our lives."

"I wrote about why I take regular breaks—and how much more present I feel when I do," she continued, next to a photo of herself sitting in bed, wearing pajamas and drinking coffee.

In the post, headlined "Does Your Brain Feel Too Busy? Take A Social Media Break," Tisdale French admitted that she loves social media "in a lot of ways" because "it can be inspiring, funny, and a great way to stay connected."

However, when she steps away, she wrote, she is reminded about "how different it feels to be fully present—to not be half in a moment while also thinking, 'Wait, did I already post today?' "

The process of posting on social media, Tisdale French wrote, had previously become "automatic."

She recalled experiences in which she'd take a picture and "immediately" think about posting it on Instagram, rather than living in the moment.

"When I’m off social media, I’m more with my friends, more with my kids, more in the moment," she wrote. "Unsurprisingly, those moments are better when I’m not holding my phone at arm’s length trying to look casual."

Tisdale said that what "really wears out my brain" with social media is the "sheer volume of information."

She said that the first time she took a social media break, she got the "gift of perspective" and "highly" recommended it to others.

"I could still care and stay informed—but on my own terms," she wrote. "(For instance, I stay up on current events by reading or watching the news, not through TikTok.) Obviously social media can be fun and useful, but it doesn’t need to be the place where our lives happen."

Tisdale's latest blog post comes amid the fallout of her "Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group" essay for The Cut.

The actress first opened up about her experience in a blog post titled “You’re Allowed to Leave Your Mom Group" in December 2025.

Although the women in her former friend group have not been publicly identified, fans have speculated that they included Hilary Duff, food influencer Gaby Dalkin, Meghan Trainor, Mandy Moore and others.

After the blog post went viral, a source close to the group told PEOPLE exclusively that "It was a misalignment of values that Ashley decided to make public. Friends naturally drift apart. It didn’t warrant a dramatic breakup text."
