With a second season of One Piece hitting Netflix on March 10, viewers can rest assured that a third season is on the way.
Netflix confirmed in August 2025 that One Piece had been renewed for season 3, and production began in Cape Town, South Africa, in November 2025. The live-action adaptation of the 1997 manga series first came to Netflix in August 2023, and season 2 premiered on the streamer on March 10.
The anime adventure series follows the tales of the Straw Hat Pirates — made up of Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd), Usopp (Jacob Gibson) and Sanji (Taz Skylar). Over the last two seasons, the group has battled various villains while trying to find the legendary One Piece treasure.
While Netflix hasn't shared an official trailer or synopsis for the third season, the streamer has announced a few new cast members who have joined the adventurous story.

During the One Piece Day celebration in Tokyo in August 2025, Netflix confirmed that the series had been renewed for season 3.
Production for the third season began in November 2025 in Cape Town, South Africa.
Who is in the cast of One Piece season 3?

Shortly after One Piece season 3 began filming in November 2025, Netflix announced that it will include a combination of returning and new cast members. The streamer confirmed that the original Straw Hat Pirates — including Luffy (Godoy), Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Rudd), Usopp (Gibson) and Sanji (Skylar) — all reunited to film season 3.
In addition to the show's original cast members, some characters from season 2 will continue filming with the crew, as well. Sophomore cast members who will be featured in season 3 are Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday/Princess Nefertari Vivi, Mikaela Hoover as Tony Tony Chopper, Joe Manganiello as Mr. 0, Lera Abova as Miss All Sunday and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefartari Cobra. Manganiello, Abova and Ramamurthy were promoted to series regulars.
Viewers will also be introduced to two new characters: Xolo Maridueña as Spade Pirates Captain Portgas D. Ace and Cole Escola as Bon Clay, a theatrical assassin who is a "master of performance and precision," per Netflix.
Meanwhile, Ian Stokes, who was co-executive producer on the first two seasons, was promoted to co-showrunner, aloginside Joe Tracz. Matt Owens was previously a co-showrunner and executive producer for the first two seasons, but he left ahead of season 3 production in March 2025 to focus on his mental health.
What will One Piece season 3 be about?

Netflix has not released an official synopsis for season 3 of One Piece, but they previously teased that it will center around Luffy "continuing his search for the greatest pirate bounty of all — the titular One Piece."
Season 2, which hit the streamer on March 10, follows the Straw Hats as they try to best their "fiercer adversaries and the most perilous quests yet."
"Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line — a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn," the season 2 synopsis reads. "As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they’ll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies.”
At the end of season 2, the crew defeat King Wapol and make a shocking realization about Mr. 0. Season 3 promises to pit the Straw Hats against Mr. 0's organization, the Baroque Works.
When will One Piece season 3 be released?

An official One Piece season 3 premiere date has not been announced, but viewers may have to wait a bit, based on the season 2 production schedule.
Season 2 of One Piece started filming in South Africa in June 2024 and wrapped around six months later in December. In February 2025, Netflix confirmed that production had been completed, and the trailer was released a year later in February 2026 — one month before its premiere.
As of the season 2 premiere in March 2026, Netflix has not confirmed whether or not season 3 has finished filming.
