Vice President JD Vance will publish a new book this year.

On March 31, Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, announced the forthcoming publication of Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith, set to arrive this summer.

Per a statement shared with PEOPLE, Communion is an “intimate account” which explores why Vance, 41, strayed from Christianity, along with his conversion to Catholicism. Vance will also write about the ways his faith “guides his work in public life and how it informs his vision for the future.”

“The story of how I regained my faith, of course, only happened because I had lost it to begin with,” Vance writes, per a statement shared with PEOPLE. “The interesting question that hangs over this book, and over my mind, is why I ever strayed from the path. Why the Christian faith of my youth failed to properly take root. I'm glad I found my way back to the Church. I learned much along the way.”

“To summarize [Communion]: I'm a Christian, and I became a Christian because I believe that Jesus Christ's teachings are true,” Vance continued. “But I didn't always think that, and by sharing my journey I might be helpful to others — Catholic, Protestant or otherwise — who are seeking reconciliation with God."

Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith will be published on June 16.
