Mark Cuban is showing the lengths he will go to in order to get his protein in.
In the Project Swagger live podcast taping at South by Southwest on March 13 with Peloton instructor Robin Arzón, the former Shark Tank star shared his recent high-protein lunch fixation – baby clams and honey on an egg white wrap.
“I know this is gonna sound so gross,” the billionaire, who is a pescetarian, prefaced his lunchtime ritual. “And it is disgusting, I have a 16-year-old son at home, and like he just walks out of the kitchen.”
He said he starts with egg white wraps he found on Amazon because two of them are 50 calories and 11 grams of protein.
“Okay, I can go with that because I want my protein after a workout,” he said.
He then revealed that he eats baby clams for iron, to the visible and audible disbelief of Arzón and the audience.
“But, because they sound disgusting, they taste disgusting, I put honey on them,” he said, as the crowd shouted out.
Cuban said he drizzles the egg wrap with the honey, then the “grossest part” is squishing the can lid down to drain the baby clams before he puts them on the wrap.

“So I’m like squishing the can, and the clam juice is everywhere,” he said, noting that the juice can’t get on the wrap or it will ruin it. “The fragrance is unique, right, so that’s why the kitchen is cleared.”
He said each can or baby clams is 80 calories with 14 grams of protein, adding up with the wraps to be 25 grams of protein. “And then, I can splurge some on the honey to make it all taste better,” he said.
“Tell me you’re not convinced, that sounds amazing,” he joked, looking out into the crowd. “Everybody’s got a phone out, they’re going to Amazon right now.”
“I keep waiting for it to get better, and it just gets a lot worse,” Arzón said at one point. “You know you’re memefying yourself right now.”
He said he puts the lunch into MyFitnessPal, which he uses to track “everything that I eat. Everything.”
The billionaire shared that he starts his day with a much more normal meal of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes drizzled with honey and apricots.
Cuban justified his lunch choice with “the food rule” he told his three kids growing up: “If you like one thing, and you like another thing, and you put them together, you’re gonna like it a lot more.” He brought up chocolate and peanut butter as an example.
He admitted that the honey and baby clams were the oddest food combination he’s tried while testing that rule.
The billionaire left Shark Tank on May 16, 2025 after 14 years on the show to spend more time with his kids.
“For this coming fall, I'll be able to finally be home for my wife, son's and oldest daughter's birthdays. We almost always were shooting then," he told PEOPLE in 2025.
He discussed how he was locked in on being a dad to his kids Alexis, 22, Alyssa, 20, and Jake, 16, after leaving the show.
"They will have more time to ignore me and tell me how I'm not as cool as I think I am. All which I love," he said. "It will give me more time to learn and tell them dad jokes and my stupid sayings and leave the room rolling their eyes."
