New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte, her security detail and several bystanders saved the life of a driver involved in a fiery collision at a New Hampshire toll plaza.
"I want to thank the Trooper on my security detail and the bystanders who stepped up to help at the scene of the crash for their brave lifesaving efforts today," Ayotte, 57, said in a statement shared on X. "Joe and I are praying for the full recovery of the driver who was injured today."
New Hampshire State Police confirmed in a press release that the driver "suffered serious injuries after their vehicle crashed into a toll plaza on the F.E. Everett Turnpike" on Tuesday, March 31.
The accident occurred at approximately 11:55 a.m. local time, and the vehicle caught in the blaze was a Lucid Gravity that struck the Bedford Toll Plaza. "911 callers indicated the vehicle had caught fire, and someone in the vehicle appeared to be trapped," the New Hampshire State Police continued.
"While units were responding, a veteran State Trooper assigned to Gov. Kelly Ayotte’s security detail came upon the crash, saw that the vehicle was actively on fire, and observed the driver was still inside," police said. "The driver was then pulled from the burning car through a window and brought to safety."
New Hampshire State Police confirmed that Ayotte, along with other witnesses at the scene, helped the trooper pull the driver from the car.
Police identified the driver as 51-year-old Yevgeny Mirman, a resident of Massachusetts. Mirman was brought to a nearby hospital with "serious" injuries.
“Certainly, their actions were heroic in what they did,” said Colonel Mark B. Hall in a statement. “Without hesitation, they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it.”

Troop B was assisted by members of the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, Bedford Fire Department, Litchfield Fire Rescue and Merrimack Fire Rescue in the rescue operation.
New Hampshire State Police said that no charges have been filed at this time; however, all aspects of the crash remain under investigation.

"The governor did get out of the vehicle and tried to assist in any way she could at the scene," Hall said in a statement to Boston news outlet WCVB. "She wasn't in harm's way at any point, but she has a great deal of care for our citizens and tried to do what she could at the scene to provide assistance."
