  • Ulberg joked that the belt might “still be in the apartment” or that one of his “boys probably has it in bed with him”

UFC champion Carlos Ulberg lost his newly earned belt within just hours.

The 35-year-old mixed martial artist told Fox Sports Australia that he's no longer in possession of the belt on Monday, April 13, two days after he defeated Jiří Procházka to win the light heavyweight division title on Saturday, April 11.

"I've lost the belt, bro," Ulberg told the outlet. "I don't know exactly where it is."

Ulberg explained he intended to keep his celebrations tame after the victory in Miami, but the evening didn't go according to plan.

"Initially after winning, the plan was to not have a drink. But you know how these things go, right?" Ulberg told Fox Sports.

"First, someone gives you a champagne to celebrate. Then one thing leads to another and you’re doing shots. So it’s ‘Okay, I’ll have another, and another, and another,'" he added.

Ulberg said he has "a big group of boys over here in Miami" and they "all went out to the afterparty at a nightclub" after the fight. The group then went "back to one of the boys' apartments and we all hung out there," according to the UFC champ.

Ulberg "didn't want to be carrying the belt around" during his celebrations and speculated if it's "still there at the apartment somewhere" or if "one of the boys probably has it in bed with him."

According to Fox Sports, Ulberg's plan once he left Miami was to see doctors in Las Vegas for further evaluation on his knee. After that, the outlet said Ulberg plans to spend time with family in New Zealand and train at the UFC Performance Institute.

"I'm a family guy and I can't wait to see them," Ulberg said of his family back home.

The champ also told Fox Sports he has yet to get his injuries checked out following the fight.

"I haven't actually been to the hospital yet," he said, joking, "first things first — go to the afterparty."

Ulberg said on Monday his knee is "really swollen" after he claimed it "blew out" in the ring.

"I'll stay in the U.S. for scans and then, if I need to go under the knife, I will," he told Fox Sports.

Of his wild few days winning the belt and then losing it, Ulberg told the outlet" "It’s all been a crazy, crazy whirlwind and I’m just going with it."
