CEO Laura Henshaw has responded to criticism for breastfeeding her baby son while she was on camera filming a podcast episode.
Laura, co-founder of the wellness app Kic, breastfed her infant son, Atlas, while recording the April 13 episode of her podcast, Kic Bump, with her husband, Dalton Henshaw.
Sharing a video of the moment on Instagram, Laura wrote in her caption, "Atlas’s little head 😭❤️ On today’s pod Dalt joined Laura to answer all of your postpartum Q’s – as always we wanted to be as honest and open with you all as possible."

Laura, who is about four months postpartum, later received critical comments, including one that read, “Imagine a guy did this. Because he was in a rush he just had to film a podcast with his penis out.”
In a since-expired post on her Instagram Stories, the new mom responded directly to the commenter, sharing a photo of her breastfeeding on a plane and writing, per the Daily Mail, "I'm not ‘brave,’ I'm just doing my best and feeding my child. I'm learning so many things in our world are not really designed for mothers."
Laura added that she’s “too tired to go into why these comments on a video of my breastfeeding is so so very wrong.”
Messages of support were also shared in the comments section of the video, however, including one from consultation service Bloom Lactation, which wrote, “We need more women like you Laura who are willing to show up authentically on public platforms. Not because they have to, but because visibility matters”
“Thank you @laura.henshaw for helping pave the way for mums to come, you should be incredibly proud of the mum you have become,” the company added.
Laura and Dalton announced the birth of their son in December. The couple shared a picture of themselves embracing as Laura sat in a hospital bed holding their son.
“Our whole world, baby Atlas,” they captioned the joint post, adding a red heart emoji.

Months before Atlas' birth, Laura said during a podcast episode that she decided she was going to welcome her son via an elective caesarean.
“I don’t have a specific medical reason that means I can’t have a vaginal birth, and [to be honest] there isn’t a bone in my body that wants to have one but despite that I really did grapple with some of the shame I felt around not wanting to go through labor and embrace the ‘pain’ and the talk around C- sections being the ‘easy way out,' " she wrote in the caption of an accompanying Instagram post at the time.

Laura announced the same month that she was stepping down as CEO of Kic, which she co-founded with Steph Claire Smith, after five years.
“As we embark on the next phase of the journey, I want to say the biggest thank you to Steph Claire Smith for trusting me in the role and being the most incredible cheerleader and rock through all the ups and downs, to our wonderful Kic team for trusting me as your leader, and to you guys for supporting Kic and everything we do. We wouldn’t be here without you,” she wrote in a Linkedin post.
