Disney Released a 1-Hour Living with the Land Ambience Video on Earth Day, and Fans Are 'Obsessed'

In celebration of Earth Day, Disney Parks has released an extremely chill 1-hour video tour of Living with the Land, its popular slow-moving boat ride in EPCOT at Walt Disney World. The video is the latest addition to Disney's Sights & Sounds series, which allows fans to experience some of their favorite Disney attractions and scenes from home.

Disney fans were thrilled about the video.

"Slowly but surely Disney is learning just how much we love ambience videos. Hopefully we can get a couple official Pirates of the Caribbean loops," one fan commented.

"I can smell this and I am obsessed," said another.

"Living with the Land must be protected. Never, ever, even think about touching it," another fan stressed.

First opened in 1982, Living with the Land takes guests on a relaxing 15-minute boat ride through a series of natural scenes. It opens with a recreation of a tropical rainforest, then leads you into the American prairie, a scene complete with animatronic buffalo, chickens, and goats. The ride then opens to a living greenhouse, where workers tend to a wide variety of living plants.

"See firsthand how Walt Disney World horticulturalists are using innovative growing techniques and cross-breeding high-yield crops to help feed a growing planet," the ride's description reads.

"Discover a cornucopia of fruits and veggies from around the world—some modified to jaw-dropping effect. Feast your eyes on edible food crops from around the world. Glimpse hybrid striped bass, tilapia, catfish and freshwater shrimp in our fish farm. On this eye-opening tour, you'll be inspired by a hopeful vision of farming's future."

Workers at Living with the Land showcase various methods of hydroponics, where plants are grown without soil by using water-based mineral nutrient solutions.

Living with the Land also contains an "aquacell" focused on fish farming, and a biotechnology lab, where USDA scientists perform research on crop improvement. The ride ends with a lighted collage of people and produce from around the world, along with a projection of the Earth as seen from space.

In addition to its educational elements, Living the Land is a respite for park-goers, thanks to its climate-controlled indoor location, relaxing pace and typically short wait times to ride.
