A 6-year-old boy in Michigan is home with both of his arms amputated after a March dog attack.
Romell Frazier Jr. was attacked by two family dogs on March 19, leading to the amputations, according to a GoFundMe started for his family.
Romell also suffered multiple infections as a result of the attack and underwent several surgeries while hospitalized in the ICU.
Preshauna Jones, Romell's mother, told ClickOnDetroit that her son's legs were injured and that he spent nearly two months in the hospital before returning home.
“I thought it was over,” Jones told the outlet. “But my baby stayed in there. He never left.”
Because of the double amputation, Romell is reportedly no longer able to feed himself, and he had to relearn how to walk while in the hospital.
“Now, I have to feed him,” Jones told the outlet. “He was just able to do all of that on his own. I have to be his hands and arms. And it's just a constant reminder, every day, of the day that this happened.”
The GoFundMe started to raise money for Romell's recovery has so far raised over $25,000.
His mother told ClickOnDetroit that her son will need prosthetics and that he will require further procedures.
“Everything was OK, and in the blink of an eye, everything is just different now,” she reportedly said.
