Cam Skattebo is showing off his hops!
Seven months after the New York Giants’ star running back sustained a gruesome leg injury, Skattebo did a backflip while crossing home plate during a celebrity softball game on Sunday, May 31.
Social media video of the moment, shared by Giants reporter Charlotte Carroll, shows the 24-year-old NFL star stop in his tracks before crossing the plate and launching into a lofty backflip, then holding his arms out and shaking his head proudly.
“One pitch. A home run for Cam Skattebo,” Carroll wrote. “Oh and a signature back flip.”
Skattebo was reportedly taking part in a celebrity softball game put on by Giants teammate Brian Burns in Pomona, New York, according to ESPN.
The moment comes after the Giants’ star running back suffered a brutal ankle injury during his team’s Oct. 26, 2025 game against the Philadelphia Eagles, when Skattebo’s leg got pinned underneath him when he was tackled by Eagles linebacker Zack Baun, PEOPLE reported at the time.
The harrowing injury forced the rookie running back to miss the remainder of the 2025-26 NFL season with a dislocated and fractured ankle, according to the league and ESPN. USA Today reported the injury was serious enough to require surgery, causing Giants fans to hold their breath over the running back’s future.

But Skattebo has a reputation for being tough – just ask his mom, Becky.
"Cameron's always been able to figure out how to get up, over or through things," the NFL star’s mother told ESPN in an interview one week before last season’s injury, noting that he’d “run into telephone poles” with his brother’s football pads on as a kid to train for getting tackled.

The high-energy running back caught the Giants’ attention during his time at Arizona State University, leading the Sun Devils to the NCAA Playoffs with 1,711 yards — second-best in the country that season, according to the Football Reference almanac.
The Giants went on to select Skattebo in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft before he helped reignite the team’s long-stagnant offense with five touchdowns and 401 yards in his first eight games before the injury.

Sunday’s antics proved to be an encouraging sign for Giants nation hoping Skattebo will be back in form by the 2026 NFL season’s kickoff.
“Safe to say he's feeling fine,” NFL reporter Jordan Raanan wrote on social media while sharing the clip of Skattebo’s backflip on Sunday.
