Two Iowa parents are in custody after their child was allegedly discovered locked up inside their home and malnourished.
Andrew C. Warrington, 48, and Kellie J. Warrington, 47, of Davenport, are facing first-degree kidnapping, child endangerment, willful injury, and neglect or abandonment of a dependent person charges, according to Scott County jail records viewed by PEOPLE.
It is not immediately known if they have attorneys.
The minor’s identity was not publicly disclosed, but KWQC reported that the child was 10 years old.
Andrew and Kellie allegedly “knowingly and secretly confined” the child to a bedroom without furniture for an extended period of time, Our Quad Cities reported on Monday, June 8, citing Scott County arrest affidavits.
PEOPLE reached out to the Scott County Sheriff’s Department for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.
The parents are accused of depriving the child of bathroom access, light, food and water while they were confined. It is further alleged that the accused were able to conceal the situation by not allowing the minor access to medical appointments and removing them from church activities, Our Quad Cities reports, citing the affidavits.
The lack of stimulation “for large periods of time [resulted] in both mental and physical torture,” court records said, per Our Quad Cities.

Additionally, the child suffered from head injuries, both outlets reported.
“Without medical intervention, (the child) was at risk of death,” the affidavits alleged, per Our Quad Cities. The child was treated at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, KWQC and WQAD reported.
Andrew and Kellie are being held at the Scott County Jail on $2 million cash-only bonds. Both are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 16.
