The new, $2.2 billion Highmark Stadium is not getting high marks from some Buffalo Bills fans.
On Saturday, Aug. 8, the team played a scrimmage and welcomed 51, 807 fans for the first time to the new digs — and the reception was tentative at best.
As fans watched the Bills practice, they took in the new, 61,108-seat stadium, which has a natural grass field, an under-field heating system for brutal Buffalo winters and the ability for additional standing-room-only seats.
The stadium also sports two video screens at each end zone, whose relatively small size prompted social media critics to bring on the jokes.
On X, one fan compared the screens to Michael Scott of The Office’s infamous plasma TV.

Meanwhile, some seats on the upper deck featured obstructed views, according to fans in attendance.
“Whoever designed the new Bills stadium … wasn’t very keen to detail,” one fan wrote on X. “Imagine paying tens of thousands on PSLs [personal seat licenses] and season tickets and walk into a view like this…”
Another fan summarized the sight lines succinctly: “How is this f—ing possible?”
The stadium’s steep stairs in the 400 section also had fans taken aback, since there are reportedly no restrooms at the top of the venue.
The new facility was designed by Kansas City-based Populous Holdings, a firm which has designed notable stadiums worldwide.
On Saturday, the Bills debuted their new Nickel City jerseys, which have also come under fire by opinionated members of Bills Mafia.
The new uniforms, which feature an all-gray jersey-pants combo with blue accents, had quarterback Josh Allen’s backing.

“Stop hating on the jerseys, guys,” Allen, 30, told reporters after the Bills’ first practice of training camp on Wednesday, July 29.

He added, “I enjoy them. I think it’s very symbolic of what we want to do and what we want to be. I understand people want the old jerseys and the old helmets and all that.”
