Jessica Lange is making her American Horror Story comeback in epic fashion.
The actress, who previously won two Emmy Awards for her work in the Ryan Murphy series, stars in the trailer for season 13 that dropped on Thursday, Sept. 10.
Lange, 77, last starred as an AHS series regular in 2014’s Freak Show, then she appeared in a guest capacity in 2018 for its Apocalypse installment.
The super-sized American Horror Story: 13 sees Lange reprise all four of her characters from previous seasons: Constance Langdon, Sister Jude, Fiona Goode and Elsa Mars.
Other familiar faces from the FX franchise also revisit their past roles in the new season, including Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, John Carroll Lynch and Jamie Brewer.

Newbies to the cast include Joey Pollari, Paul Anthony Kelly, Mena Suvari and John Waters.
Co-creator Murphy, 60, told The Hollywood Reporter he likely would not have done this season if Lange declined to return. (The most recent season, Delicate, with Kim Kardashian, aired in 2024.)
“Jessica, after we did the first four seasons, wanted to go off and do different things, which I understood completely,” he told the outlet. “But I reached out to her thinking she would say no, and if she had said no, I probably wouldn’t have done it.”

“She told me a story about how she was doing Broadway last season and she would go out after the show, and there were all of these young people who were there because they all watched her work on American Horror Story. And she was very moved by that,” shared Murphy. “I said, ‘Well, that’s funny, because my idea is for you to do all four of your favorite characters.’ And she said, ‘Sign me up. I’d love to do it.’ I was so grateful.”
This year marks 15 years since season 1 of the show premiered in 2011. A logline for this next season teases, “Which iconic horrors will return to haunt the hallowed halls of 13 and what new terrors await? Light your candles, draw your pentagrams and prepare for a supreme surprise.”

Murphy added to THR, “We also had a lot of the original costumes still in storage that we got to use. So there are little Easter eggs threaded around in the set decoration where fans can be like, ‘Wait, wasn’t that in season 2’ It was. This season is a thank you to the fans for continuing to watch.”
American Horror Story: 13 premieres Thursday, Sept. 24, on FX and Hulu.
