Dave Grohl found time to be a hero on his birthday.
The Foo Fighters frontman stepped out for a rare appearance on Jan. 14—which happened to mark the day he turned 55—to help those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires.
Dave gave back with the Feed The Streets Los Angeles organization, which has prepared and served meals for inmate firefighters, frontline workers and families who have been displaced as a result of the fires that have been burning across Southern California since Jan. 7.
In a video posted by the organization on Instagram, the “Best of You” singer is dressed in his signature black T-shirt, jeans and a hat as he stirs a giant pot of chili. In another clip, Dave is seen walking down the street with a handful of meals that were set to be passed out.
Dave has previously worked with the organization to feed the unhoused population in L.A., with the former Nirvana drummer using his spare time—and skills on the barbecue—to whip up meals for others who are less fortunate in February.
