Robert Pattinson’s vampire days might be long behind him, but the Twilight star still has an eerily strong sense of smell — he even says he can identify his baby daughter by her scent!
In a new interview with Vogue published on Monday, January 20, the 38-year-old actor, who shares his 10-month-old little girl with long-term love Suki Waterhouse, talked about his unexpected parenting skill.
“I remember people used to be like, ‘Oh, don’t you like the smell of babies?’ but I thought they were just smelling the baby powder,” he said. “But then I had a baby, and I was like, ‘My baby smells incredible.’ There’s something there, I can identify her. She doesn’t smell like other babies.”
Pattinson and Waterhouse, who have been dating since 2018, welcomed their daughter into the world in March 2024. Six months later, on the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York, the model, actress and singer said her man was a truly fantastic dad.

“He’s the greatest!” Waterhouse gushed, adding that she wasn’t sure who her daughter most took after. “I don’t know. It’s just always changing,” she said. “She has such a sweet nature. It’s really sweet to see.” And, by the sound of things, smell!
Waterhouse, 33, also told Today in September that Pattinson even loved changing their daughter’s diapers. “He thinks it’s fun,” she said. “The surprise, and everything.”
It’s clear that Pattinson has enthusiastically thrown himself into fatherhood. At the Dior Homme Menswear Fashion Show in Paris last summer, he told reporters that he was loving every minute. “She’s so cute,” he said. “And, you know, I’m amazed by how quickly their personality comes. So even at 3 months, I’m like, ‘Oh … I can kinda see who she is already.’”

Waterhouse, too, has gushed about how much she loves being a mom. “It is a lot,” she told Today on the subject of juggling work and parenting. “[But] it’s just that love. Just completely and utterly besotted. I didn’t know that it would be this good.”
Waterhouse has previously talked about how great her relationship with Pattinson is. “I’m shocked that I’m so happy with someone for nearly five years,” she told The Sunday Times in 2023. “I’m always incredibly excited when I see his name pop up [on my phone] or even a text, and I think he feels the same about me. We’ve always got so much to say, and I find him hilarious.”
