Olympic swimmer Ryan Murphy and his wife Bridget Konttinen Murphy have expanded their family!
The couple announced on Wednesday, Jan. 29, that they welcomed their first child together, daughter Eevi Lillian Murphy, on Friday, Jan. 24.
The nine-time Olympic medalist, 29, and his wife shared a collaborated Instagram carousel with five images of their newborn daughter.
Eevi weighed 9 lbs. 8oz. and was 22 inches long, the couple shared.
“Family of 3,” the caption read. The couple added that Eevi is “a name of Finnish origin meaning ‘life.’ ”
The couple included a sweet image of Eevi sleeping as she held hands with both her mother and father. Another photo included, Bridget in the hospital bed as she held Eevi in her arms and kissed Ryan.

The proud parents also shared a picture of the infant cradled in a pink blanket, as well as a photo of awake Eevi in her carseat.
They capped off the carousel with an adorable photo of Bridget holding Eevi on her as she sat in the hospital bed.
Fellow Olympic swimmers celebrated the news in the comment section.
Abbey Weitzeil commented, “Eevi 🥹, she’s beautiful congrats you guys!!🩷.” Olivia Smoliga added, “Congratulations 🥹👼🤍.”
“Congratulations !! She’s so precious 💕💕,” Katie McLaughlin commented.
Olympian Caeleb Dressel’s wife, Meghan, wrote: “Congratulations Mom and Dad🥹. She is so perfect 🤍✨.”
Bridget announced they were expecting a daughter at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris — right after Ryan scored a bronze medal for finishing third in the 100-meter backstroke race on July 29.
After Ryan received his medal, Bridget stood in the stands with a handwritten sign that read, “Ryan it’s a girl!” Later, they were spotted in the stands hugging and sharing a kiss.
His mother, Katy, revealed to PEOPLE on July 31, that the reveal “was a very last minute” decision.
“She had this idea and she ran it by all of us and we were like, ‘Heck, yeah, you guys were just waiting to open that little slip of paper’ and, yeah, and that’s, that’s how it all happened,” Katy said.
Ryan spoke with PEOPLE in Feburary 2024 and credited his college sweetheart’s support as to how Ryan has reached great success.
“She’s been a huge part of my success over the past couple of years,” he said. “I think she’s someone who definitely gets me just motivated about life.”
