‘Southern Charm’ Recap: Salley Says She Got Breast Implants After Her Ex-Fiance Made Her ‘Insecure’

Salley Carson’s broken engagement has been making headlines since she joined The Bachelor in 2021 — and now her ex-fiancé is a topic on Southern Charm.

“I’m getting my girls taken out,” Salley, 30, told fellow season 10 newbie Molly O’Connell on the Thursday, January 30, episode of Southern Charm, referring to her breast implants.

Salley explained that she’d gotten a boob job more than two years ago “when I was with my ex-fiancé,” confessing she “thought that was what he liked.”

Looking back, however, Salley said, “I just felt like I did it for the wrong reasons.”

Salley later told the cameras, “It’s not like my ex-fiancé told me, ‘Your boobs aren’t good enough.’ Or anything like that. He never did. But the girls he was giving attention to had bigger breasts and didn’t look like I looked.”

She confessed that the situation “somewhat made me insecure” at the time, but she has since become more self-confident.

“Now if a guy asked me to get something done or made me feel that way, I would just exit the relationship,” Salley added.

Salley was engaged to Avery Bucholz shortly before leaving to film ABC’s The Bachelor.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed that in August 2021 she was on her bachelorette party in Mexico, but the following month the engagement was off and Salley was headed to Los Angeles to film season 26 of the dating show.

When Salley competed for Clayton Echard’s heart on The Bachelor she was identified as “previously engaged” on camera. (Salley and Avery were slated to tie the knot one day after cameras started rolling.)

During the January 2022 premiere, Salley met Clayton, 31, before the official limo entrances because she was unsure if she was ready to be on the ABC series. At the time, she revealed she called off her engagement due to a “lack of trust.”

Ultimately, Salley chose to walk away from The Bachelor before the rest of the women arrived at the Bachelor mansion. However, she returned to reality TV in October 2022 during season 8 of Bachelor in Paradise.

Salley quit the show shortly after arriving when Genevieve Parisi brought up her ex-fiancé. Genevieve, 29, questioned whether Salley was over her ex, calling her out for seeing him a few days prior to her flight.

“I work with him,” Salley explained at the time, noting she wanted to have a “conversation with him out of respect” before heading to the beach.

In November 2022, Salley played coy about her relationship status and whether she was in fact seeing Avery again following their split. “They’ll just have to keep wondering,” she exclusively told Us Weekly at the time when asked if she’d reunited with her ex.

Salley eventually moved to Charleston and had a brief stint on Southern Hospitality during season 2, which aired in 2024. During her time on the Bravo show she got cozy with Joe Bradley but their romance fizzled out when she made out with Gaston Rojas before their date.

Salley went on to date Gaston for some time before they split and he started seeing Southern Charm’s Taylor Ann Green in late 2023. Now that Salley and Taylor, 30, are on the same show, their relationships with Gaston have become a big story line — as the women don’t agree on what type of guy Gaston is.

When it comes to Southern Charm’s most recent episode, Salley stayed out of the drama, opting to talk to Molly, 37, about how “hard” it is to be a woman. Outside of their chat about her boob job, Salley revealed that she gets lip and chin filler.

“I got Botox today too,” Salley said. Molly replied, “I got Botox too.”

Salley explained, “I think I started to do it because I was insecure but then I realized it makes me feel good too so I’m going to continue to do that.”

Molly — who previously starred on America’s Next Top Model — told the cameras, “I’m not trying to change how I look. I’m just trying to keep it somewhat stable. I wanna look a little younger than I actually am for as long as I can.”

The ladies concluded their coffee date by complimenting each other on their beauty. “Your face looks great,” Salley said. “Cheers to our beautiful faces,” Molly added.
