NFL star Jared Goff’s wife Christen Harper is officially settling into her pregnancy.
While speaking with PEOPLE ahead of the Super Bowl LIX from the SiriusXM set at Media Row, the expectant mom, 31, revealed that she was pregnant during her 2025 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue photo shoot. Harper says that her body was going through a lot of changes ahead of the shoot, but ultimately she’s grateful for the experience.
“That was really an interesting time to be shooting in a bikini,” she tells PEOPLE. “Looking back, it was a little challenging, but it was fun because I’m going to have those moments forever.”
“Everybody celebrates when you have that like real bump, but that in between time when you’re kind of just feeling a little, I don’t know not so yourself, it’s hard,” she adds. “So, I’m happy I got to celebrate that moment and bring something good out of it.”

The Detroit Lions quarterback and his wife spoke exclusively with PEOPLE at the NFL Honors red carpet on Thursday, Feb. 5, in New Orleans, where they couple revealed that they were expecting their first child together during the off season. Harper tells PEOPLE that she feels like she’s being “indoctrinated into this special mom’s club.”
“[The NFL Honors] is always one of my favorite events of the year, but to share something like that was really special,” she says. “It’s kind of a hard secret to keep for so long. And, it’s just fun to have everybody know and we’re all on the same page, and I can just openly be excited about this exciting journey that’s ahead of us.”
“Next year, we’ll have an extra little supporter, which will be so fun. It will be a good distraction for me on game day to have something else to take care of, other than stressing out about the field,” she adds, sharing that she’s happy the baby is due during off-season.
The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue model also said they are “excited to enjoy this special time together and just soak up every second.” Goff echoed her sentiments, telling PEOPLE that he’s “always dreamt” of becoming a father.
“I know it’ll add a new perspective to life, and it’ll be great,” the expectant father said, before adding that he thinks Harper will be the “best mom.” He continued, “I can’t wait to watch her be a mom.”
Harper tells PEOPLE that finding out she was expecting was “something so special.”
“I feel like no one can prepare you for that moment,” she says. “And just when you find out, it’s just shock and excitement and all of the things.”
