King Charles Makes Rare Comment About Son Prince Harry’s Invictus Games

King Charles III spoke about Prince Harry’s Invictus Games to a former competitor during an outing in London on Wednesday, February 19.

The king, 77, visited the Center for Injury Studies at Imperial College London to highlight the U.K.’s support to injured service personnel in Ukraine, according to a press release issued to Us Weekly.

During the visit, Charles met David Henson, a former British army captain and parasport athlete who competed in the Invictus Games, a sporting tournament Harry founded in 2014 for injured or sick veterans.

In a video published by Hello! Magazine, Henson can be seen demonstrating virtual reality biofeedback technology, used to enhance rehabilitation for those who have experienced limb loss. However, the conversation soon turned to Henson’s connection with the Invictus Games.

“Are you still taking part in games and sports?” Charles asked.

“So I’m a touch too old, I think,” Henson responded.

“I did the Invictus Games in 2014 and 2016, Paralympics in 2016 and I stayed one of the trustees until the end of 2023,” he said. “So I’ve certainly been involved with it. I’m back in the defense industry now, I’m working, I’ve got three children.”

“Fantastic,” Charles replied.

It wasn’t Henson’s first time meeting the king. He was previously pictured with Charles, Harry, and Prince William at the Invictus Games in London in 2014 when he served as captain of Team U.K.

Charles’ remarks came as Harry wrapped up the 2025 games in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada.

Around 550 people from more than 20 countries participated in the event between February 8 to 16.

Dominic Reed, CEO of the Invictus Games, previously told Us Weekly that Harry’s commitment to the games is “unparalleled.”

“I’ve worked with the duke for nearly 12 years now. And what I was saying to people who ask, because people obviously do ask, [is that] his commitment is unparalleled,” he told Us.

“He once described [The Invictus Games] to being his second child,” Reed added. “This was before [his daughter] Lilibet was born, and then he quickly corrected himself, ‘my first child.’ It’s a very important thing to him.”
