Motley Crue’s Vince Neil Says He’s ‘Truly Sorry’ as He Postpones Concerts for Surgery

Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil has apologized to fans for delaying the band’s Las Vegas residency while he recovers from surgery.

“To all the Crüeheads who were looking forward to seeing us this spring, I’m truly sorry,” Neil, 64, said in a statement posted via Mötley Crüe’s Instagram on Tuesday, March 4.

The legendary heavy metal band declined to specify what kind of procedure Neil is facing, noting only that the surgery is being “advised by vocalist Vince Neil’s doctors.”

Mötley Crüe were scheduled to perform for the first time since October 2024 at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas from from March 28 to April 19, but their residency has now shifted to a September 12 start date. All tickets from the original 10-date residency will be honored in the fall.

“My health is my top priority so I can bring you the awesome shows you deserved, and I can’t wait to return to the stage,” Neil said. “Thank you for all the well wishes that keep reaching me. Your support means more than you know.”

Neil also received support from his Mötley Crüe bandmates Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx and John 5 — the last of whom replaced original Crüe guitarist Mick Mars following his retirement in 2022.

“Please join us in wishing Vince a speedy recovery,” the band said in a joint statement. “We are looking forward for him to get well again and to take over Vegas together in September. We can’t wait to see you all out there, and thank you for your support and understanding in the meantime.”

It has been a difficult few weeks for Neil, as his girlfriend, Rain Andreani, was injured in a plane crash on February 10. Neil was not on board when his private plane collided with another aircraft at Scottsdale Airport, but the pilot on his jet was tragically killed.

Mötley Crüe initially responded to the crash by saying in a since-deleted statement that their “hearts [went] out to the families of both the pilot who lost his life and the passengers who suffered injuries.”

“Mötley Crüe will announce a way to help support the family of the deceased pilot – stand by for an announcement very soon,” the band vowed.

A second message from the group provided more context on the collision: “At 2:39 p.m. local time, a Learjet aircraft Model 35A owned by Vince Neil was attempting to land at the Scottsdale Airport. For reasons unknown at this time, the plane veered from the runway causing it to collide with another parked plane. On board Mr. Neil’s plane were two pilots and two passengers. Mr. Neil was not on the plane.”

The statement continued, “More specific details regarding the collision are not available as this is a rapidly evolving situation and there is an ongoing investigation. Mr. Neil’s thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical aid of all first responders assisting today.”

A Scottsdale Fire Department spokesperson later confirmed that four people were injured, in addition to the pilot’s death.

The National Transportation Safety Board’s (NTSB) preliminary investigation cited surveillance and mobile phone footage in determining that the rear left landing gear was not functioning correctly at the time of the plane’s descent. This initial report also found that the jet was not properly equipped with thrust reversers, which contributed to it sliding over the safety islands at Scottsdale Airport to collide with a nearby plane.

A final accident report from the NTSB is expected to be released later this year.
