Grant Amato made headlines long before he was named in the alleged murder plot against Ghost Adventures star Aaron Goodwin.
According to a police report obtained by Us Weekly, Amato was named as the Floridian prison inmate who was allegedly talking to Aaron’s wife, Victoria Goodwin. In her alleged conversations with Amato, Victoria expressed her desire to leave her marriage. One of her alleged text messages read, “Am I a bad person? Because I chose to end his existence. Not divorce.”
Victoria was arrested in March 2025 on charges of soliciting to commit murder and conspiring to commit murder, per inmate records in Clark County, Nevada. TMZ was the first to report.
Victoria has denied the allegations. She claimed that she never wanted to have her husband killed and that she didn’t remember sending the messages to Amato.

What Is Grant Amato in Prison For?
In 2019, Amato was convicted of familicide for the deaths of his parents and brother Cody.
Earlier that year, Amato’s family was found at their home in Chuluota, Florida. The scene was allegedly staged as a murder-suicide that appeared to frame his deceased brother. Amato fled the residence. A 24-hour manhunt ensued after investigators noticed Amato’s vehicle was missing.
Once Amato was tracked down he was brought in for questioning. He claimed he had no idea what happened to his parents and his brother and denied any involvement. However, investigators found that one of the family’s credit cards was used to purchase $600 of tokens to talk to Silvie.
Why Did Grant Amato’s Family Ban Him From Talking to Sylvie?
Amato developed personal feelings for Sylvie and paid to talk to her on a consistent basis. Amato, who did not have a job at the time, allegedly took $200,000 from his brother and father to spend time with Sylvie online.
After the hefty purchase, his family attempted to help him by sending him to a rehab facility. Once Amato returned from treatment, his family gave him an ultimatum. In order to continue living at their home, Amato had to get a job, go to therapy and pay for his own phone and debts. Instead of following their request, Amato stole his mother’s phone to contact Sylvie. The family subsequently kicked him out before their deaths.
How Long Is Grant Amato’s Prison Sentence?
After a jury did not unanimously agree to sentence him to death, Amato was sentenced to three lifelong prison sentences without the possibility of parole. He is serving his sentence in the Tomoka Correctional Institution in Daytona Beach, Florida.
In August 2019, Amato filed to appeal his convictions and life sentences, per the Orlando Sentinel. It was denied two years later.
How Did Victoria Goodwin Connect With Grant Amato?
According to a police report obtained by Us, Victoria allegedly reached out to Amato after watching a true crime documentary about him. The pair conversed as pen pals starting in May 2024. Victoria shared that she and Amato communicated primarily via text message. Their correspondence allegedly ended in November 2024, one month before the alleged murder plot was arranged.
