The Sex Lives of College Girls’ three-season run may be over at Max, but the show’s small screen future is still up in the air.
“We are currently in discussions with some new potential homes for the show, and it’s nice that there is so much interest,” Justin Noble, the show’s cocreator, wrote in a lengthy Instagram post on Tuesday, March 18. “But regardless of what happens, I’m proud of this show and the work that so many incredibly talented people put into it.”
Noble shared the post shortly after news of the show’s cancellation broke. The dramedy series, which Noble cocreated with Mindy Kaling, debuted on Max in 2021 and followed the personal and romantic lives of a group of college roommates played by Pauline Chalamet, Alyah Chanelle Scott, Amrit Kaur and Reneé Rapp.
Deadline reported on Tuesday that Netflix could become the show’s new home, though a rep for Warner Bros. Television declined to comment.

“After seeing our show listed as the most watched or second most watched scripted show on the entire platform, for about 70 straight days, this is not the outcome that I saw coming,” Noble continued, referring to the show’s popularity on Max. He went on to thank Kaling, 45, the streaming service and the show’s cast and crew.
“No matter what happens, The Sex Lives of College Girls has three seasons that showcased incredible performances and told so many important stories while also managing to fill those stories with laughs,” Noble wrote. “In a world of ‘content,’ it’s a show that strived to make sure it entertained — and I feel that we did that.”
He concluded his Instagram post by thanking the fans, stating, “We really did do it all for you.”
Kaling, for her part, reacted to the show’s cancellation by sharing several photos of the show’s cast over the years via Instagram. She simply captioned the post with a single black heart emoji.
The show’s third season introduced several new characters, including Mia Rodgers’ Taylor and Gracie Lawrence’s Kacey, the latter of whom became the main friend group’s new roommate following the exit of Rapp’s character, Leighton.
“I think Kacey’s very different,” Lawrence, 28, exclusively told Us Weekly in December 2024. “There was no intention of ever feeling like it was replacing [her] or anything like that because that’s an iconic character. Leighton is a beloved iconic character. I don’t think anyone — from the creators of the show to any of the actors — would want to step on the toes of that.”
The SLOCG season 3 finale, which aired on January 23, teased several future storylines for the main quartet. Bela (Kaur) embraced her bisexuality while Kimberly (Chalamet) questioned her future after being arrested for cutting the school’s internet service in protest of a campus college speaker.
Meanwhile, Whitney (Scott) and her fellow student athletes helped the Essex University athletics board implement better practices, while Kacey turned in an emotional campus musical performance after getting her heart broken by her ex Cooper (Roby Attal).
