‘Incredibly Skilled’ Snake Slithers into Homeowner’s Oven and Makes Itself ‘Comfortable’

A snake in Australia avoided getting cooked after slithering into a homeowner’s oven.

In a March 21 Facebook post, Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers of Australia details how it handled an unwanted reptile in the kitchen.

“Holy heck, check out this Brown Tree Snake that snuck into an oven!” the professional snake-catching service captioned its post, which features a video of the removal job.

In the clip, the snake catcher shares they are in Rosemount, Australia, responding to a call about a “brown-colored snake” behind a “free-standing oven.” The video then pans down to reveal that the reptile intruder coiled up in the warming section of the oven.

“Look what we have here,” the snake catcher says as he shines a light on the snake and adds that the animal is a “decent-sized” brown tree snake.

The footage of the snake’s eviction continues with the snake catcher using a hook to encourage the reptile out of the oven. After several seconds of coaxing, the snake catcher pulls the snake out.

“That does not belong in an oven,” the professional says while pulling the “mildly venomous” tree snake all the way out of the appliance.

The clip concludes with the snake catcher putting the reptile in a bag so he can later release it into the wild in a less populated location.

“Tree Snakes are so incredibly skilled at squeezing into tight spaces and making themselves comfortable. We are just glad he got rescued before too much heat was involved!” Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers added to the caption of its Facebook post.

The snake star of the clip was likely seeking a warm spot to curl up as evenings are getting colder in Australia, according to the post. Other reptiles in Australia have recently found their way into peculiar spots.

In February, Snake Catcher Dan shared on social media that he had to spend over an hour searching a family’s couch to find the “highly venomous” snake hiding inside.
