Jason Kelce Has the Perfect Response to Someone Comparing the ‘Tush Push’ to Giving Birth

Jason Kelce is weighing in on retired NFL star Ryan Fitzpatrick comparing the Philadelphia Eagles’ infamous “tush push” to giving birth.

“Enjoyed your analogy of the tush push strain @JasonKelce and also congrats on the new baby,” Fitzpatrick, 42, shared via X on Thursday, April 3. “That led me to thinking what would YOU say is easier.”

Fitzpatrick’s two options were, “a woman having a baby” or “you blocking a season’s worth of tush pushes.” He added, “Anxiously awaiting your response.”

Jason, 36, was quick to respond.

“Oh man, hate to say, but it isn’t even close,” he shared via X. “I’ll take an entire career of tush pushes over giving birth. F*** that.”

The social media conversation came after Jason had a discussion with brother Travis Kelce about their thoughts on banning the Eagles’ “tush push” (a football play in which multiple players push the quarterback through the other team’s defensive line) during the Wednesday, April 4, episode of their “New Heights” podcast.

“I get why certain teams want to ban it for competitive reasons. I get why some people think that it’s potentially unsafe. I think optically it looks unsafe,” Jason said. “For me personally, I never felt like there’s that much more of a risk of injuring somebody on the play and I don’t think there’s any statistics to back that up.”

He added, “Saying that it’s going to lead to more injuries is pure conjecture, not rooted in fact. I think the only argument I see for potentially banning it is: Is there a competitive advantage?”

Fitzpatrick’s initial post also referred to the birth of Jason and wife Kylie Kelce’s fourth baby girl, Finnley “Finn” Anne. The couple announced their daughter’s arrival on March 30.

Kylie, 33, shared her birth story, and discussed a tush push of her own, during her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast postpartum special on Thursday, April 3. (Jason and Kylie are already parents to daughters Wyatt, 5, Elliotte, 4, and Bennett, 2.)

“I don’t know that people who have not felt this necessarily want to know this,” Kylie told listeners. “But the question that I was asked during my first labor was, ‘Do you feel pressure in your rectum?’ And you don’t know what that means until you know what it means.”

She added, “Then you’re like, ‘Get them back in here now. I know what they’re talking about.’ This time around, I was like, ‘Hey, I feel the pressure.’ … And then she was here. It was delightful.”
