Fire Outside Disneyland Sends Black Smoke Into Air Around Theme Park

A fire broke out on Disney grounds in California, sending black smoke into the air as parkgoers watched.

According to KTLA, ABC 7 and CBS Los Angeles, a car caught fire in a Disneyland parking garage on Friday, April 4 and the blaze quickly spread to several other vehicles.

Anaheim Fire Department officials told the outlets that a Toyota RAV4 caught fire while parked in the Pixar Pals parking lot at Disneyland — located on the northwest side of the park — and firefighters arrived at the scene at around 10 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found the fire had spread to two or three more cars nearby. The flames were quickly extinguished, officials told the outlets.

Videos shared on social media seemingly showed views of the fires from inside and outside the garage, as flames several feet tall raged from the SUV and dark smoke billowed out into the sky, visible from the park and surrounding areas.

Officials have not yet announced how the fire started, and no injuries have been reported, per the outlets.

This is not the first fire that has been reported at a U.S. Disney property in recent months. On March 22, guests were forced to evacuate a ride at Walt Disney World’s Epcot theme park in Florida after a fire broke out.

The blaze started when a walk-in cooler “caught fire” backstage at the theme park’s France Pavilion in Orlando, Fox 35 Orlando, CBS News and Fox Business reported at the time, citing Walt Disney World officials.

Riders on Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, which is located near the area of the fire, were evacuated. The blaze was extinguished by 7:20 p.m. local time and no injuries were reported, officials confirmed to the outlets. The specific cause of the fire from the walk-in cooler is not currently known.

In February, a fire broke out near the Main Street firehouse near the Disneyland Fire Department building on Main Street U.S.A. in California.

The small blaze started around 6 p.m. on Thursday, Anaheim Fire and Rescue Department confirmed to PEOPLE at the time.

In video footage captured by Disneyland attendees, flames can be seen rising from behind a gated area near the Jungle Cruise ride. Cast members appear to be ushering the onlookers towards the park exit in some of the clips.

First responders were able to put out the flames within minutes, a spokesman for Anaheim Fire and Rescue Department told PEOPLE.

A Disneyland official told PEOPLE that the flames had ignited a patch of vegetation in the backstage area of the park and parts of Adventureland — which is located behind the firehouse — was closed off.
