Exes Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson Join Royal Family at 2025 Easter Church Service

Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, though no longer working royals, stepped out at the family’s annual Easter service.

Andrew and Ferguson, both 65, were seen arriving separately for the Easter Sunday Mattins service on Sunday, April 20, at St George’s Chapel in Windsor. While the Duke of York opted for a simple morning suit, Ferguson sported a black dress over a white cropped, buttoned jacket. She completed her look with a black headband, gloves and a handbag.

Andrew and the Duchess of York were married from 1986 to 1996, during which they welcomed daughters Princess Beatrice, now 36, and Princess Eugenie, now 35. Both of their girls joined them on Sunday.

Eugenie looked chic in a white coat with a matching veiled fascinator as she entered the chapel with her husband, Jack Brooksbank. Beatrice, for her part, showed off her postpartum figure — she gave birth to second daughter Athena earlier this year — in a tailored emerald gown that complemented her yellow pillbox hat. Beatrice arrived to St George’s Chapel, holding hands with her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

The Yorks accompanied other members of the royal family on Sunday, including Andrew’s brother King Charles III and his wife, Queen Camilla. The group was rounded out by Princess Anne, Sir Tim Laurence, Prince Edward, Duchess Sophie and James, Earl of Wessex.

Charles’ son Prince William and his wife, Princess Kate Middleton, however, were absent from the service. News broke earlier this week that the couple, who usually attend the Easter gathering with their three kids, would skip Sunday’s outing in order to have low-key family time before their children’s spring break from school ends.

William, 42, and Kate, 43, were also absent from the 2024 Easter service as the Princess of Wales battled an undisclosed form of cancer. In their absence, Charles, 76, was joined by his wife and siblings. Andrew and Ferguson also attended last year despite no longer being working royals.

Andrew was stripped of his “HRH” honor and voluntarily resigned from his public duties in 2022 after his sexual assault misconduct scandal, claims of which he vehemently denied.

“I have no recollection of ever meeting this lady, none whatsoever,” Andrew told the BBC in November 2019, referring to accuser Virginia Giuffre. “It just never happened.”

Giuffre filed a lawsuit against Andrew in August 2021, claiming that the prince sexually abused her when she was 17 years old. Andrew denied the claims before settling the case out of court for an undisclosed sum.

Ferguson, meanwhile, lost many of her royal associations after she and Andrew divorced.

“You can’t have it both ways. You can’t be divorced and then say, ‘I want this …’ [You’re in] or you’re out,” Ferguson said on the U.K.’s Loose Woman in 2022 when asked whether she would attend Charles’ coronation as king. “I personally will be having a little tea room and coronation chicken sandwich and putting out the bunting, that’s what I’m going to be doing.”
