Bryce Dallas Howard Was ‘So Nervous’ for Dad Ron Howard’s Cameo in ‘The Studio’ With Seth Rogen

Bryce Dallas Howard was anxious for her dad, Ron Howard, when he was working on The Studio with Seth Rogen.

“I was so nervous for him because he hasn’t acted,” Bryce, 44, said on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast on Monday, April 21. “He’s done some stuff, like in Arrested Development. He’s done some cameos here and there, but like a real part with dialogue and they’re shooting it all with oners, so you cannot mess up.”

Bryce, the oldest daughter of Ron, 71, and wife Cheryl Howard’s four children, noted that she went with the critically acclaimed director to the set because of how worried she was about him.

“I was like a momager,” she joked to host Josh Horowitz. “Like, I went with him to set and I liked what he was wearing. I approved of that. I made sure he was hydrated and then he went and he did the rehearsal and honestly, I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ He was so good.”

While many TV shows have made household names out of their star players, occasionally showrunners have been able to corral some of Hollywood’s biggest names to drop in for a surprising cameo during a complete episode or a single scene. Perhaps one of the most polarizing cameos belonged to Ed Sheeran on HBO’s Game of […]

The Jurassic World: Dominion actress said her dad was “so on point” and everyone working was “baffled” by his performance.

“I guess [he] learned a bit from Tom Hanks over the years,” she quipped.

Ron starred as himself in an episode of The Studio, which aired earlier this month. In the episode, studio head Matt Remick (Rogen) has to give Ron a note on his latest movie, Alphabet City, but doesn’t want to upset the director. Things get heated between the twosome with Ron even throwing his hat at Rogen, 43.

“It was his idea to throw his patented Imagine hat at me, which I thought was a true stroke of genius,” Rogen recalled to People of the moment in April. “For him to weaponize his trademark look was a really miraculously funny idea.”

Rogen noted that Ron “was so game and so good and really tried so hard” while working on the set of the Apple TV+ show.

“[He] worked really hard on the performance and the role and yeah, he was very impressive,” he shared.

Ike Barinholtz, who starred as a member of Rogen’s team in the series, added that Ron had “great stories” about his career, which the rest of the crew really enjoyed.

“You could just turn and be like, ‘Tell me something about American Graffiti,’” he explained to the outlet. “He’d be like, ‘Harrison Ford bullied me quite a bit with Paul Le Mat.’ He’d just launch into a crazy story.”

Following his cameo, Ron took to social media to share a clip from the episode — and express his gratitude for Rogen including him in the project.

“I had such a blast…only one thing to say to Seth, Evan [Goldberg] and the entire team…You Rule,” Ron wrote via Instagram in April. “Thanks for including me. #TheStudio.”
