Evelyn Lozada and Jennifer Williams are starting off a new season of Basketball Wives on opposite teams.
While the pair helped launch the VH1 series in 2010, both Evelyn and Jennifer found themselves at odds during the season 12 premiere on May 5.
“We have a lot of history, and it comes with a lot of ups and downs,” Jennifer exclusively told Us Weekly days before the new season kicked off. “I think with this season — along with other seasons — you continue to see that. I think we’re constantly on this roller coaster, and we just can’t get it right.”
While the duo have often been aligned over the years, season 12 feels different.

After audio surfaced of Evelyn questioning Jennifer’s relationship with husband Christian Gold, the pair have found themselves in a feud on and off screen.
“Yeah, we’ve gone through our ups and downs,” Evelyn exclusively shared with Us. “I’ve shared more time with her than anybody on this cast — aside from probably Shaunie [O’Neal] — and some things I would have preferred to keep private when it comes to the issues that we are having this season. But then we started filming the show.”

What Started Evelyn and Jennifer’s Feud
During the Basketball Wives season 11 reunion, which aired in September 2024, producers aired audio footage of Evelyn questioning Jennifer’s man.
“She doesn’t have street smarts,” Evelyn said. “I worry about her marrying him.”
The comments clearly affected Jennifer, who distanced herself from her friend of more than two decades.
“I have known Evelyn almost 25 years now,” Jennifer shared in the May 2025 season 12 premiere. “When I’ve known you for that long — and that’s how you address something — I don’t respect that.”
Evelyn later added, “I haven’t spoken to Jennifer since the reunion and I just feel like she should rethink getting married to this person.”
Why Does Evelyn Have Questions About Jennifer’s Husband Christian?
In September 2024, Jennifer and Christian got married during a private ceremony in Paris without any Basketball Wives costars in attendance.
The special event came after Christian was on probation for false imprisonment. (When he went out of the country without proper permission and a social media post caught him in Paris, a judge sentenced him to 15 days in jail.)
In May, Evelyn also accused Christian of allegedly scamming Carl Crawford’s cousin out of $1,500. (Evelyn and Carl share 11-year-old son Leo). Both Jennifer and Christian deny the claims.
“I would never risk my reputation and my integrity and my character for $1,500,” Christian shared in the season 12 premiere.
What Has Jennifer Said About Christian?
Although Christian has found himself in some legal situations, Jennifer explained to Us that she is a happy newlywed enjoying life as a wife.
“My wife status is great,” Jennifer told Us. “It’s really amazing to know that you have somebody that is your partner, that’s going to ride for you, that you’ll grow old with, somebody that is your best friend. We like a lot of the same things. Wife status is pretty amazing for me right now.”
When asked if she has a message for viewers who may have questions about her husband, Jennifer made it clear he’s a good man.
“Christian is used to being the topic of conversation, and honestly, he handles it well,” she said. “He doesn’t run from problems. He runs towards them, and he’s a great person. I know that, and hopefully other people will see that. And if they don’t, that’s too bad.”

What Has Jennifer and Evelyn Said About the Future of Their Friendship?
The season 12 premiere suggested Jennifer is officially done with Evelyn after she walked out of a Friendsgiving and said her costar is “not a friend.”
Evelyn, however, maybe a bit more open to seeing where things go.
“How do you film a show and not address certain things that happen at the reunion?” she told Us. “It is what it is. I tried to explain where I was coming from and what happened at the reunion because that was really what started this. But, you’ll see it on the show.”
