Justina Machado will not be first in line to see the newest Final Destination movie.
14 years after Final Destination 5, the horror franchise’s latest installment, Final Destination Bloodlines, is set to attract new fans to the series with a largely new cast.
But Machado — who starred as one of the few survivors of Death’s wrath in 2003’s Final Destination 2 — told PEOPLE at a Tony Awards junket in New York City on Thursday, May 8, that she wouldn’t see Bloodlines for a very specific reason.
Asked whether she is a “horror person,” the actress, 52, says, “I am a horror person. Just not that horror person, you know what I mean?”
“Plus, I didn’t die! They didn’t bring me back! So no,” she quipped, laughing.

Machado played Isabella Hudson in Final Destination 2, the first of several sequels following the original 2000 film about Death finishing off those who have “escaped” it one by one.
Of filming, she recalls, “Everybody was great. I had the greatest time in Vancouver. Everybody was young. We were all in our 20s and we were just having the greatest time.”
At the time, Machado — who is nominated for a Tony for her role as Carmen Garcia in Real Women Have Curves on Broadway — was also starring on Six Feet Under.
“It was summertime and I went to Vancouver and I made a movie with a bunch of great young actors,” she tells PEOPLE, adding that she “hung out with” costar T.C. Carson “all the time.”
“That was my guy, my friend. So lots of great memories with T.C.,” Machado adds.

An official synopsis for Bloodlines says this sixth entry “takes audiences back to the very beginning of Death’s twisted sense of justice.”
“Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefanie heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all,” the logline teases.
The cast includes Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Rya Kihlstedt, Anna Lore, Max Lloyd-Jones, Brec Bassinger and the late Tony Todd in his final film role.
Final Destination Bloodlines is in theaters Friday, May 16.
