A toddler unexpectedly — and hilariously — stole the show at his aunt’s wedding.
Doug Savitz and Alexandra Salmieri got married in a church ceremony in New York on Friday, May 9. The bride’s 2 ½-year-old nephew, Lorenzo LaMotte, and 1 ½-year-old cousin, Giana Salmieri, were the ring bearer and flower girl, respectively.
Lorenzo’s unfiltered reaction to a mishap down the aisle became one of the most memorable and funniest moments of the wedding.
Although the toddlers had rehearsed the wedding processional at home before the big day, apparently not everything went as planned.
When it was her turn to walk down the aisle, the flower girl decided to run with unsteady determination and excitement. As Giana’s little legs wobbled quickly, her arms flailed around, which caused the basket she was carrying to spin upside down and completely dump out the petals.
Giana had likely practiced delicately tossing the white rose petals out of her basket, dispensing them down the aisle. So, when Lorenzo followed shortly after her and saw all of the petals in the middle of the aisle, he was dumbfounded.
While wearing a mini tuxedo, Lorenzo slowly stomped down the aisle and paused at the puddle of petals. Unlike all of the laughing wedding guests, Lorenzo wasn’t amused.
He let go of his white ring pillow with one hand, stretching his free hand out to motion to the flowers in disbelief before dropping both of his arms in defeat. He continued down the aisle, stopping and turning around once more to motion and mumble about the floral mess, before returning to his ring bearer duties.
“His mind probably was saying, ‘What in the world is going on? We can’t make a mess like this at home!’ ” Lorenzo’s mother, Taylor LaMotte, tells PEOPLE.
Taylor says her son “always has something funny to say unintentionally,” but no one saw his concern for the flower display coming.
“When you’re very concerned about the mess the flower girl just made,” Taylor wrote over footage of the flower girl and ring bearer’s portion of the wedding processional posted on TikTok the day after the nuptials. Her video was not only a hit with the wedding guests, but also users on the social media platform, garnering more than 4 million views and 500,000 likes.
“Everyone was hysterically laughing and replaying the videos on repeat afterwards but he was confused as to why everyone was laughing,” Taylor shares. “He took the job serious.”

Lorenzo “didn’t say anything” about the ceremony to anyone afterward, but he and Giana “cleaned up the aisle” while everyone left the church to take group wedding photos.
Before the wedding, Lorenzo’s parents promised him “a special surprise if he did a good job walking down the aisle.” Even though they admittedly “forgot” to warn him about “the mess that may be ahead of him,” they thought he handled the unexpected situation well, and he was awarded with a helicopter toy and a bubble machine the next day.
