Not all of Demi Engemann‘s costars from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives are confident her marriage to Bret Engemann will last — especially after both of them were accused of being unfaithful.
During the Thursday, May 22, episode of “The Viall Files” podcast, Mayci Neeley and Layla Taylor were asked to weigh in on whether Demi, 30, and Bret’s relationship will be affected after being on reality TV.
“It’s hard to see or say because I feel like I don’t know how deep their relationship lies,” Mayci, 30, noted. “On social media, you would think it’s perfect. But as we know from many other couples, social media is not a reflection of how your relationship really is.”
Mayci was unsure about saying “yes or no” since she currently wasn’t close to Demi, adding, “I would give it a maybe. I would say yes. I’ll say yes for now.”

Meanwhile, Layla, 23, had more of a “hot take” about Demi and Bret’s future together. “No [they won’t last],” she said. “I think this [reality TV] world unfortunately might — with the way that she’s operating with the [drama] — this might break them.”
Demi and Bret, 46, were introduced to Us on season 1 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. When the show premiered in September 2024, the biggest issues Demi and Bret were facing in the public eye had to do with their 16-year age gap — and Whitney Leavitt sharing intimate details about their sex life.
Season 2 looked a little different with Demi filming several episodes of Vanderpump Villa, which is how Demi met Marciano Brunette. After sharing several conversations, Marciano alluded to developing feelings for Demi that were addressed off screen.
Demi, for her part, called out Marciano for perpetuating rumors that she was unfaithful.
“Nothing happened with Marciano. At the expense of sounding rude, there wasn’t even a remote attraction to him. It sucks that women can’t be kind and friendly and even playful with men in this world without it being taken as like you’re open. I had a rock on my finger the entire time I was there,” she exclusively told Us Weekly in May. “I brought up my marriage multiple times and they were told that we were married women — so it sucks that we couldn’t just go and have a good time and that he couldn’t respect that.”

As new episodes of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives aired, Bret found himself accused of sleeping with someone else when Demi was out of town.
“The truth always reveals itself. Until there is proof, I don’t give it any credit or any weight. I don’t understand why something that is not true would bother you so deeply,” Demi told Bret, to which he replied, “I need to worry less about optics.”
While cameras stopped rolling, Demi and Bret’s mics picked up a more tense conversation when they thought they were done filming.
“Are we on the same page here? You have to know deep in your core that I would never do that to you,” Bret said. “It bothers me. I want to find out who it was. I want to know who said it because I want to go after them. It pisses me off. You know I didn’t do that.”
Demi questioned Bret’s “overexplaining,” adding, “I don’t know what it is with you. Why do we keep talking about it? The way you are reacting is a little bit confusing. If I am guilty, this is how I am acting.”
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is currently streaming on Hulu.
