Here’s the sitch on Courtney B. Vance‘s ohana.
The Lilo & Stitch star, who plays fan-favorite Cobra Bubbles in the new live-action version of the Disney animated classic, admittedly didn’t get into the OG movie because his and wife Angela Bassett‘s 19-year-old twins Bronwyn Vance and Slater Vance thought it was “too scary” at the time of its release.
“My children were too young when the movie came out,” he told E! News’ Francesca Amiker in an exclusive interview. “They were afraid of Stitch.”
And while Courtney “really wanted to get into” the movie, his kids put their foot down on having anything to do with Stitch in the house. So, it was really a full circle moment for the 65-year-old when he got cast in its reimagining.
“The film’s about taking care of family,” Courtney explained, “doing the extra thing, sacrifice.”
In addition to its familial themes, Lilo & Stitch especially hits home for Courtney since it’s being released on May 23—the same day his wife’s new movie Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning hits theaters.
