Jennifer Lopez shook off her recent facial injury with a sexy performance at the 2025 American Music Awards.
The awards show’s host, 55, took to the stage to perform a dance routine to a medley of popular songs during the Monday, May 26, ceremony at Fontainebleau Las Vegas including Billie Eilish‘s “Birds of a Feather,” Bad Bunny‘s “NUEVAYoL” and Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga‘s “Die With a Smile.”
At one point, Lopez — who rocked a sparkly one-piece — was seen making out with a few of her dancers. She concluded the opening number with a number to Kendrick Lamar‘s “Not Like Us.”
Earlier this month, Lopez revealed via a series of Instagram Stories on May 13 that she hurt her face while rehearsing for the AMAs. In one photo, she showed a cut across the bridge of her nose, while in another image, she iced the injury. “So … this happened,” she wrote at the time.

One of the biggest nights in music is also a showcase for some of the most popular artists and performers in the industry to show off their red carpet style. The 2025 American Music Awards, hosted by Jennifer Lopez, takes place on Monday, May 26, at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, airing live at 8 p.m. […]
In a subsequent Instagram Story slide, Lopez thanked Dr. Jason Diamond — a facial plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills — for “stitching me up,” adding, “A week later and a whole lotta ice, I’m good as new.”
Lopez was announced as the host of the 2025 AMAs in April, marking her second time helming the awards show after making her debut in the role 10 years earlier in 2015.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer Lopez back to host the American Music Awards,” Dick Clark Productions CEO Jay Penske said in a statement at the time. “Jennifer’s incredible talent and incomparable stage presence make her the ideal host of the show. We know she will bring her one-of-a-kind energy to the official kick-off celebration of summer.”
Throughout her career, Lopez has performed at the AMAs more than 10 times. During the awards show’s 50th anniversary special in October 2024, she reflected on taking the stage for the first time in 2001 after first tuning in to the ceremony as a child.
“This was so long ago, but the energy in the room was very electric,” she recalled.
Lopez went on to explain the significance of winning an AMA since the honorees are selected by fans.
“Winning a fan-voted award is incredibly special because it’s directly from the people that you make the music for,” she said. “It’s just a humbling experience.”
Lopez also gushed over the “huge honor” of hosting the AMAs in 2015, teasing, “Maybe I’ll do it again one day. Who knows?”
Lopez’s return to the AMAs comes three months after she finalized her divorce from Ben Affleck in February. The pair tied the knot in July 2022, and she filed for divorce two years later in August 2024, listing their date of separation in April.
