Tom Hanks may just be one of the most charming stars to ever walk a red carpet.
The two-time Oscar winner, 68, joked around with photographers at the Wednesday, May 28, New York City premiere of his new Wes Anderson movie The Phoenician Scheme.
Poking fun at one photographer snapping shots on the carpet, Hanks indicated they were taking too long and he wanted to move along, as Page Six reported. “Shut the f— up!” he jokingly yelled at another cameraman amid the faux kerfuffle.
Bryan Cranston, who plays Hanks’ brother in the film, reportedly joined in the fun. “My tie is askew!” he exclaimed, adding to one photographer, “Thanks for letting me know my tie was askew.”
The Breaking Bad Emmy winner, 69, then quipped, “I’m going to come out with a line of ties called Askew!”
Anderson’s Phoenician Scheme stars Benicio del Toro as fictional industrialist Zsa-zsa Korda, who embarks on a new enterprise with his daughter Liesl (Mia Threapleton) and tutor Bjørn (Michael Cera). Hanks and Cranston play basketball-loving sibling duo Leland and Reagan, respectively.

Hanks was all smiles at the movie’s New York City premiere, held at Jazz at Lincoln Center. He posed for group photos with Anderson and other castmates, including Scarlett Johansson, F. Murray Abraham, Hope Davis and Stephen Park. A video posted by The Hollywood Reporter shows Hanks enthusiastically greeting del Toro, 58.
The similarly upbeat Cranston greeted PEOPLE at the premiere, sharing a favorite memory from shooting Anderson’s movie.
“I think it was when Tom and I, playing brothers, were absolutely marveling at what Benicio del Toro was asked to do. Massive amounts of very tricky dialogue,” he says.
“Tom and I are going, ‘My God, I’m so glad I don’t have that role,’” adds Cranston. “We were saying to [del Toro], ‘What can we do for you? What can we bring you? Can I massage your feet?’”
The Phoenician Scheme hits theaters on Friday, May 30.
