A bride posed with a group of relatives for a family portrait on her wedding day — but one glaring detail “ruined” the result.
The bride’s daughter-in-law shared the awkward photo on Reddit’s “Photoshop Request” forum, a place where users can make requests for free and paid photo editing services. She explained that her in-laws’ 30th wedding anniversary celebration was coming up, and they haven’t been able to use the wedding portrait because “the groom’s sister wore white and the photographer didn’t do a very good job with placement and people.”
In the photo, a woman wearing a long white dress with puffy sleeves — that looks strikingly like a wedding gown — sits in the center, with 19 family members surrounding her. But she wasn’t the bride, she was her sister-in-law.
The actual bride was seated to her left, wearing a veil and an ivory-colored lace dress that was mostly concealed by a young child on her lap. Two other kids sat on the floor at her feet.
The Redditor asked if any skilled Photoshoppers could change the color of the sister-in-law’s dress so she would “blend in” with the darker clothing the other family members were wearing. She also wondered if the three kids could be moved to be in front of the sister-in-law — their mom — “so the focus is on the bride where it belongs.”
To assist with the editing, she also shared a photo of the bride sitting in a chair — without her nieces on her lap — showing her wedding dress in full.
After users responded with their edited versions of the family portrait, the Redditor shared a message from the bride, offering some insight into the wedding photo mishap.
“I opted for [a] gold and ivory [dress]. The wedding was in BC [British Columbia], so in my opinion the photographer was high on some BC gold,” she wrote.
The bride said she tried to have her sister-in-law’s dress “made another color” in the portrait at the time, but the photographer lost all the negatives.
As for her sister-in-law’s choice to wear a white dress to her wedding, the bride said, “No, my SIL has never owned [it] nor apologized, but thanks to all of you, I can truly forgive her now!”
She concluded her message by sharing that she and her husband will be celebrating 30 years of marriage with a gala next week and that “unexpectedly, you all just made my wedding anniversary.”

The post was reshared on Reddit’s “Wedding Drama” forum, and commenters expressed their disbelief over the sister-in-law’s white attire.
“When I first saw this [photo], I thought it was a same sex wedding or double wedding with two brides,” one person wrote, while another joked, “Wow, 30 years with someone like that as a SIL. Need an update 😂.”
Yet another reader commented, “The groom’s sister really went all out to ruin the picture, not only with her choice of dress, but using her own children to block the bride further.”
“I love the amazing Photoshops where they fixed it, though,” the same person added. “I hope that can bring some comfort, although it doesn’t bring back the actual moment.”
