Adam Brody Teases the ‘Repercussions’ Noah Will ‘Grapple’ with in Nobody Wants This Season 2

Adam Brody’s Nobody Wants This character Noah has some tough decisions to make when the show returns for season 2.

When quizzed about the next installment of the Netflix hit on the red carpet at the 2025 SAG Awards on Sunday, Feb, 23, the star shared with Deadline that the “Hot Rabbi” will still be dealing with the fallout of season 1’s ending.

“I think repercussions from [Noah] choosing maybe love over work. He’s going to grapple with that,” Brody noted, adding that there is “very little” he’s able to reveal about the upcoming series.

The conclusion of season 1 saw Brody’s character, Rabbi Noah Roklov, prioritize his fledgling relationship with Joanne (Kristen Bell) over his faith when she decides against converting to Judaism.

Though the plot of season 2 may be a hotly guarded secret, one update that has been shared is the news that Brody’s real-life wife, Gossip Girl alum Leighton Meester is set to join the cast.

PEOPLE confirmed that Meester, 38, will play Abby, the middle school nemesis of Bell’s character Joanne, who is now an “Instagram mommy influencer,” according to Variety.

Meester and Brody — who are parents to daughter Arlo, 9, and a four-year-old son whose name they haven’t made public — have worked together several times before. They appeared together in 2023’s River Wild and he had a recurring role on her former ABC sitcom Single Parents.

But Meester joining the series is particularly interesting given the undeniable chemistry her husband and Bell shared onscreen — and their viral first kiss, which Brody, told PEOPLE back in November was described in the script as “the greatest of all time.”

Meester — who debuted new mermaid-style red wavy hair at Sunday evening’s SAG Awards — isn’t one for jealousy, however, as she told Access Hollywood she thinks their headline-making kiss in the series was “great” and she didn’t “mind.”

SAG Awards host Bell and O.C. alum Brody even used the furor surrounding their kiss as material for a skit when they appeared together at the ceremony, held at L.A.’s Shine Auditorium.

“Adam, I can feel you back there,” Bell said as she opened the show before the actor emerged and replied, “I know because that’s the type of chemistry you and have. We both know that I’m your favorite costar.”

Brody then gestured to a nearby screen and flipped through a couple of Powerpoint images, before landing on a shot of their viral kiss in Nobody Wants This.

“It’s the kiss, you see, none of these other guys have kissed you like that. It’s the hands. They’re my signature move,” he quipped.

After Brody made his exit, Bell clicked through the presentation displaying pictures of herself kissing her former costars with their hands romantically cupping her face. “Guess it’s my signature move,” she told the audience to much laughter.
